Don't bet on it, the new Lancer is selling like hotcakes in the US. Too good to be true for Mitsubishi that is ailing for years in the US market and even rumored to vanish any time and with that, it compromised the much anticipated release of it here in the Philippines this coming 2008 since Japan considers our country last priority. There's even this possibility of it being released here 2009 pa. Too bad!
And Nissan releasing a new Sentra 2008?

November 26th, 2007 10:38 AM #133Rats! I made an inquiry via the Toyota website, and it looks like there will be no 1.6 variant in the new model. In their own words: "In line with your inquiry, the expected introduction for the New model of Altis will be next year and we wish to inform you that 1.6 L variant is not included in our currently vehicle -line up."

First photos of the ASEAN spec Corolla Altis. (Thailand)
More or less, it looks smilar to the global Corolla models released in other markets in the past few months.
ASEAN version has indicators integrated into the side mirrors. ...well at least for the "G" spec model in the photos.

Australia, US and perhaps the rest of the world are getting this version of the Corolla while Japan has the Axio for themselves. The Euro Corolla is now called Auris, a round hatchback with no exterior resemblance to the sedan unlike before. They have 1.4 and 1.6-liter gasoline engines (no 1.8) and a range of diesels. They can be had with 6-speed manual or a robotized manual called Multi-mode. Japan has the 1.8 and partnered with a CVT. Unfortunately, other countries have to make do with a dated 4-speed auto, but the 2.4-liter version available Stateside comes with 5-speed auto. A 3.5-liter V6 (same as the Camry) is now available in the Japanese hatch version and likely to find its way in the US and Australia.
