actually we bought this car 2nd hand noong year 2000, pnalitan lang is clutch disk, kase raw wala na lining, sorry, dont know much sa ganto, pero sabi ok pa naman dw iba, tapos pna check ko naman lately, pna test drive ko, sabi d naman dw sliding at ok naman dw takbo, pero d ako mapalagay tlga eh, kase so high rpm, yet mababa nagreregister sa spdometer ko iniisip ko rin kase, sayang sa gas kung d ko to mapapa ayos,, or kung ayus man baka naman ma over speeding ako sa NLEX currently combined ko is 10.5Km/L, before ako nagpa tune up it was 9Km/L combined, highway is 14.8Km/L tapos 7.1Km/L sa city, ngayon kase d ko pa na subukan yung highway and city dahil medyo pagod ako lately, i only gas up once a week, kaya combined lagi reading ko. kayo po ba ilan gas mileage nyo? lam ko kase dpt nasa 13Km/L combined ng corolla eh,, thanks po pala

February 27th, 2008 04:07 PM #24hi mate, your car runs on normal at 100kmh at 3krpm and at 5th gear, irregardless on car mileage, it idles between 800 to 1000rpm, if beyond 1krpm, your air filter is already dirty. you also mentioned that you have a good set of tires. tis still on prime condition. your fuel mileage is still ok... but just stick to 2500 rpm when on the highway if you want it on it's optimum performance, you'll end up 20km/liter, city driving at worst will give you 6.2-6.5km/li but an average of 7-7.5km/li, just maintain rev at 2000-2500 and you'll have a good combustion for it. from makati to pansol and back here it took only us less than 6liters including traffic on weekends. but if you want to rev it up, then you'll end up down to 13-15km/liter. besides, running at 80 is already ok, seatbelt won't function on 100 or over, especially when you have your family or loved ones with you. you mentioned that your clutch lining/disc is still ok as inspected by the mechanic. you should also check your shocks/springs/suspensions as these also have effects on acceleration/deceleration and also in turns. a loose one will give you hard time on accelerating or decelerating because of less traction, too tight will cause damage to other parts. your air pressure should be between 28-30psi. your stock car is ok, just do a regular 4.5k km or 4½months change oil and everything will be just fine. by the way, i have a 97 corolla gli if you wonder, tis still at 60k mileage.

September 15th, 2010 11:54 AM #28Hi, I have the same reading as well 100 kph at 3000 rpm at 5th gear.
The engine sounds a bit high rev at that speed and am also wondering if its normal.
I had my 97 gli for 4 months now and am amazed by the highway FC of this car 15 km/l at 100 kph. City (not so traffic conditions) is around 10 KM/l while extreme traffic conditions is around 7.5 to 8 km/l
I drive a mazda tribute AT and nissan cefiro AT and I find the power and speed to be enjoyable as a 2 ltr car

^ Probably it's your speedo/tach that's broken. I doubt it's possible for a 1.3L engine to reach 100 kph at only 1800 rpm.
IIRC they're with AVID. The reported numbers in the TG article are from CAMPI.
