Semi OT:
Sir StockEngine,

October 21st, 2020 08:36 AM #203diesel...
change oil and oil filter only, during pms of diesel engine.
no hi-tension systems.. no sparking plugs..
two reasons why gas engines are bought:
1. cheaper showroom price than their diesel counterparts.
2. eco-friendly emissions.
3. mas tahimik and less vibrations (daw).
my opinion.

October 21st, 2020 09:51 AM #207from my innova's owner's manual.
while the gas engine's fuel filter has a recommended 80,000 km replacement schedule,
the diesel engine's fuel filter does not have to be replaced periodically.
i am waiting for the warning light to tell me to replace my D4d's fuel filter.
does anyone still clean, re-gap and re-install their sparking plugs?

Old school na masyado yan, doc. You can buy platinum-tip plugs for less than 200 each nowadays. Applicable eto for 2000s era cars except those that require iridium plugs. Better to just buy new than reuse plugs.
New cars require longer periods for plug replacement. For some turbo gas cars, it’s like 120k km change interval but each plug costs around 1k each.

October 21st, 2020 10:08 AM #210back in the late 90s,
i forgot to service my diesel besta's fuel filter schedule (36K km?).
tinirik ako, as i was just entering the gate. symptoms of fuel starvation. we had to push it in.
replacing the filter easily did the trick.
"walang patawad. i missed it by just 4000 km..."
sinabi moh! i hardly see my children now. when they were young, schedules were more predictable.
Traffic!
