Turbocharging makes a whole lot of difference. The USDM Accord 1.5T is rated at almost 200hp, 20+ more hp than the one on the Civic.
The 2.0T may be rated only at around 250+ hp compared to the 300 on the Civic Type R but the amount of available torque is better than the V6 J35 engine.

I have the 2019 Camry SE 2.5L. Even though I'm still in the break-in period, I tried to see if the 8-speed AT would act up. Only once did the shifting hesitate and only briefly when I suddenly mashed the gas pedal from low speed.
I tried again today. Nope. The transmission was fine. No hesitation, roughness, or jerkiness. The only thing I wished was a bit more power because I'm still used to my 3.3L V6 Sonata.
The odometer reads 306 miles. That means I'm halfway through the break-in period. I haven't taken the car above 55 mph yet. But, I've done accelerating from slow speeds to 55 mph and the car was fine.Last edited by Jun aka Pekto; April 17th, 2019 at 06:55 AM.

As a follow up.....
My 2019 Camry SE odometer reads 700 miles. It's past the recommended break-in period. During the latter half of the break-in period, I started using the paddleshifters a lot more so I can practice shifting at different RPM ranges. I also practiced moving back and forth between paddleshifters and regular D mode then back to paddleshifters again. etc.
I haven't seen any issue with the transmission. Once the odometer reached 630 miles and officially ended the break-in period, I started using the freeway and began pushing the engine to higher RPMs. I had no problems accelerating on the on-ramp and merging into 80 mph (129 kph) freeway traffic. I kept the car in D mode so I can concentrate on merging. No issues. Acceleration and AT gear shifting were smooth. The only gripe I have is the engine noise. That 203 hp, 2.5L engine sounds like a muffled down Subaru turbo Boxer engine. I miss the steady growl of a V6.
Although I have to drive normally now (no more daily abuse like with the Sonata V6) because of the smaller engine, I'm very happy with the 2019 Camry SE. It certainly gets a lot of looks even though there are huge numbers of them in town.
Blue is an extra $700 option. But, I think it's worth it.

There seems to be a lack of decent higher res photos for the lower trims. So, here are some of my own. I love the styling of the SE. The blue color choice certainly helps.
All the roughness (and a handful of hesitations) with the transmission were doing the early part of the break-in period. I followed the instructions on breaking it in. I avoided revving above 4000 RPMs and stayed below 55 mph. I pretty much avoided freeways.
Now that the odometer is approaching 2000 miles? The transmission is smooth-shifting. The engine is peppy and acceleration is brisk, if not as quick as my old 2006 Sonata (3.3L V6). I do some spirited/normal driving on both freeways and stop & go traffic. Yet, I'm getting 36 miles per gallon combined on 87 gas. I'm delighted with the car even if it's not the V6. Now that gas prices are once again approaching $3/gal? I'm even happier.
My only gripe is Toyota making fog lights an aftermarket item.

It's a shame this is a separate dealer item. The row of switches in mine has a blank one and the switch for this is just right.

It's the 4-cylinder, 203 HP Dynamic Force 2.5L Inline 4. It's peppy enough. Knowing it's not a V6 means I won't be abusing it at stoplights. The last time I did 5 seconds of stupidity at a stoplight cost me $250. The wife wasn't happy. So, yeah.
In fact, I pamper and baby the car because I want it to be in great shape when I pass it on to my youngest kid (once she reaches 15 and learns how to drive). That's less than 4 years away.Last edited by Jun aka Pekto; May 15th, 2019 at 05:29 AM.

If I'm doing strictly city driving, I've seen my gas mileage drop to 30-32 mpg which is still good, considering my Sonata was getting mostly 21 mpg. City driving here isn't too bad. Traffic don't sit still very long unless there was an accident.
To get 41 mpg on a Camry, you'd have to mix in more freeway driving. The good thing about that is there are Camry drivers who got 45 mpg on pure freeway driving, probably with cruise control enabled.

Could be time to change the brake fluid.
