Manufacturers should install timer / counter (running time) on vehicle engines just like in generators ... so there is no more guesswork as to whether to follow distance covered or time used ...

i vaguely remember, some advanced model cars already have this.
with toyota, however, someone from the casa actually calls/texts me, reminding me when the projected pms is near.

the difficulty between 10,000 km/6 months versus 5000 km/3 months, is that the adverse effects (if any) take a long time to become evident.

so, unless there has been a real study comparing these two schedules and engine longevity, under local conditions....

matagal nang na study yan if you want to be enlightened just visit all the websites of major car brands in india, where conditions are hot and crappy like in PH for example the ford ecosport has a 12-month service interval in india

common yan sa US market cars. it's just an algorithm running in the ECU that takes parameters like engine running time, RPM, vehicle speed, etc. meaning it's not actually sensing the oil quality.
