January 15th, 2019 03:23 PM #4802Merong malapit sa amin na Total Lubricants which offers low priced engine oils since they have some oils in drums which may be sold per liter. I intend to have a change oil soon for my 2016 Fortuner Diesel. Sa manual ang recommended viscosity is 5W30, which is fully synthetic. Now, they are offering me in Total Lubricants the mineral oil with 15W40 viscosity which costs only P190/liter but I have to do change oil every 5,000km as well as change the oil filter. Since I really intend to have my PMS every 5,000km and not the 10k for the fully synthetic which casa recommends, I am inclined to use the mineral oil with 15W40 viscosity from Total which costs only 190/L.
Here is what Total offers me: RUBIA TIR 7400 15W40 with the following specs:
MINERAL OIL
High Performance Diesel Engine Oil
Suitable for modern engines including those with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system
Adapted to the most severe driving conditions
Provides excellent viscosity stability and effective engine protection
Provides effective control of soot, sludge and piston deposits
SPECIFICATIONS
API CI-4/CH-4/SL
ACEA E7

Should I go for this?

January 16th, 2019 08:43 PM #4806Has anyone used MITASU ULTRA DIESEL CI-4 5W-40 100% Synthetic? I saw it at Blade for P1899.00 per 4 liters. Is this a good synthetic oil?
here is the link for its complete description: MJ-212. MITASU ULTRA DIESEL CI-4 5W-4 1 % Synthetic - MITASU OIL CORPORATION, JAPAN
The manual for our vehicle (Fortuner) recommends 5W30 Fully Synthetic with the following Oil Grade: API CF-4, CF or ACEA B1
On the other hand, the MITASU is 5W40 Fully Synthetic with the following Oil Grade: API CI-4/CH-4/СG-4/CF ACEA A3/B3, A3/B4, E7
Should I go for the MITASU?

January 17th, 2019 09:58 AM #4810After doing some scouting here in Cebu and doing the math, it appears that the cheapest available option for me is the Total QUARTZ DIESEL 9000 5W30 API CI-4 [Fully Synthetic], which costs P 4,114.80 per 6 liters and additional P 708.00 for 1 liter, plus P 200 oil filter. Total cost nya is P 5,022.80. I intend to follow the casa style of using that Fully Synthetic for 10,000 km PMS with an in-between 5,000 km PMS na change oil filter and 1 Liter top-up, which costs around P 908.00.
Cebu traffic is not as worse in Manila and yung daily route ko is merely bahay-school (sa mga bata)-office-the school-bahay.... So siguro the 10,000 km PMS with the fully synthetic oil with a 5,000km PMS interval is ok na siguro... That is also what casa recommends.
