I think it would be safe to assume that of the 20 units, a minimum of 5 would be showroom units, seeing that they have already been using 5 for the motorcade. I don't think anyone would want to buy those, unless heavily discounted.

    So... down to 15?

Too bad most won't fit, and the interested few won't be able to afford(financially and practicality-wise). Plus you have to fight your way into the reservation line.

my brother used to have an s2000 and he sat very comfortable in it and he's 5'11, he was more comfortable in his s2000 than my forester. from what i've heard on other forums the 86/BRZ has better legroom and space than the s2000. so if people are saying they won't fit the 86/BRZ the reason is they're either fat or very very tall.

I saw it today leaving the Lexus Showroom. Exact ang pagdaan ko, palabas pa lang ng Lexus yung red na 86. Here are my impressions:

    - Very fast acceleration. The driver accelerated right out of Lexus and before I can whip out my camera phone to take a video, malayo na siya.
    - Nice, low rear end. I like how its low and flat, which supports its potential handling powers.
    - Its bigger than I thought. From pictures, I thought it would be same size as the Miata, but it is definitely bigger. From my short glimpse it maybe just a bit smaller than the Gen Coupe. Or maybe it looks bigger since its very low to the ground.
    - Red looks nice on this car.
    - 20 unit are the initial shipment, Toyota plans to ship more units as the months roll by. Subaru version BRZ comes in 4th quarter this year (or 1st quarter). The plant in Japan can manufacture 5,000 units per month so there's no reason to worry about imited stock. This is a new car, so they (Toyota/Subaru) will have to sell a to of units just to recover the development cost.
    - Am on the fence of getting this one now, since Toyota also announced that they will release more variants of the 86 (Subaru as well) as time goes by. A TRD version (240HP anyone?) and an STi version for the BRZ (300hp?) will likely be released next year. Toyota also is toying with the idea of releasing a convertible model.

For 1.5M base, this is a pretty good price for a toy car. I am still waiting for the BRZ to arrive to check out how they differ, then maybe I can decide on which affordable sports car to get. But then, I'm also waiting to see how Ford will price their Mustang this July. But for initial impressions, the 86 is very, very ***y...

i'm also planning to get a BRZ late next year, i'd rather wait a couple of months to see if there will be issues on the first batch and give subaru/toyota time to fix the issues if there is some. if by the time i'm ready to purchase and the BRZ STi comes out or is about to come out then i'll just wait for that, STi already confirmed that the BRZ STi will be 250hp and still N/A engine. anyway i don't mind waiting for the STi version since i really want to see the potential of the BRZ, if it turns out to be not that great i'll just get the WRX STi again.

What I like about the 86/BRZ though, is its tuner friendly setup. Toyota has been supplying "open source" blueprints of the 86 to the major tuning houses of Japan so that tuning add-ons would likely be freely available once production units of the 86/BRZ reaches the mainstream. Plus, if you look at the engine bay of the 86/BRZ, there is ample room for a turbo (even a twin turbo), and I hear that a tuning house has already installed a V8 engine from a Lexus ISF. In my opinion the 86/BRZ will be the next tuner's favorite in the same mold as that of the civic EG (or the AE86).

I'm looking at buying one early next year but it still a toss up between the 86 o the BRZ. Might not be able to wait for the STi/TRD version anymore...

if you can wait i suggest wait for it since STi really doesn't disappoint, not sure about TRD since they haven't really built anything as well as the STi this past couple of years. just look at the difference between the WRX and WRX STi, you'll be spending a lot more on the WRX just to be able to get to where the WRX STi is.

The stock 6spd 200hp flywheel made 154hp on the mustang dyno. 240hp TRD version with probably just bolt-on sounds a lot, but will see dyno results. :hysterical:
