December 18th, 2005 05:37 AM #51GM is in huge trouble both overseas and in America. They don't have all the right products, they're burdened with under-performing and non-performing marquees, and they're paying through the nose for labor disputes and union contracts.
Ford is likewise in a bad position financially, but at least most of its sub-units are in good health (Mazda, Volvo, Aston Martin), with new models and brisk sales. Ford's new cars are also doing very well.
it's just an illusion. it's a false sense of security. ika nga word of mouth, lahat bukambibig Toyota, everybody owns it, kaya they feel safe being a conformist.
if we follow that thinking, eh bakit tuloy pa din ang ligaya sa kalalabas ng other manufacturer models ng Ford, Chevy, Mitsu and even Hyundai for that matter? kung tuusin nga bec. of other people staying away from controversial brands lalo pa gumaganda service noon affected company, kasi they need to prove themselves over and over again, and the aftersales service line is short. VIP treatment pa. sa Chevy Libis nga , walang ka-hassle hassle kami. mas mahal nga lang ng a few thousands compared sa toyota quarterly maintenance, but still the purpose is served.
after all, halos lahat naman tayo malaki na yun 30km radius na tina-travel each day. Manila has such a small geographical area. kung may peace of mind ka regardless kung Hyundai or toyota or Ford ang dina-drive mo, pare-pareho lang.

December 19th, 2005 01:56 PM #52i like toyota. their cars are reliable. the designs are safe. the ride is average. the maintenance is dirt cheap (if you do not mind non-original parts)...
but since our landscape is literally littered with toyotas, i would rather look at something that not every 3rd, 4th or 5th car owner owns. vive l'difference!
