San Miguel bullet train project

San Miguel I think is busy with its involvement in the MRT 7 project. But mentioned its interest to provide bullet train service using PNR tracks.

The PNR at this moment is rehabilitating its tracks. and the new tracks are going to be a two track system using standard gauge. Which means it can accommodate high speed trains and perhaps revive the freight trains.

High speed trains require high quality tracks. The old PNR train tracks will not be up to the job without major work done, probably ripping up the old tracks and laying down new high speed quality tracks.

Yup. The PNR tracks are in no way suited for high speed rail.

Imagine, the pedicab boys plying the route trying to get out of the way of a train going over 100 km/h...

It's quite nice to hear the sound of the train, again, after it being gone for so long... it was such a big part of my (sleepless) childhood...

It also makes commuting from here to Manila in the morning much easier for so many people. It was sorely missed.

SMC Proposed for the high Speed train and they plan to finance the project but when it comes to right of way, SMC was asking the government to take care of it (ROW).

The project is called Southrail project funded by the Chinese I think.

The rehabilitated commuter line from Caloocan-Tutuban to Alabang and now some parts of Laguna was funded by South Korea thats why the new trains being use (named Filtrack) are brand Diesel trains from Hyundai Rotem of South Korea.

The old blue trains of GE plus the old coaches donated by Japan railways are now being rehabilitated and retrofitted (with Caterpillar engines) in the PNR Caloocan yards sporting new design and colors.

Metro Pacific of Manny Pangilinan is eyeing the right of way of PNR for a skyway type road network.

The majestic, historical but abandoned Paco PNR station will be converted into mixed use building.

The North PNR is now under rehabilitation of the Northrail Corp. which is plan planning to install bullet trains.

From what I have read in the newspapers, I think you are right.

The latest now is that Manny Pangilinan and his Metro Pacific Group wants to put up a train running at the middle of the North Expressway all the way to Clark Pampanga to serve passengers going to and coming from the soon to be expanded and modernized DMIA to be handled by Metro pacific and San Miguel.

Before people let out a speculation, it is wise to gather proper evidences like docs or sight incidences and not just baseless.. That's what I learned from my aspiring lawyer prof.

I'm not for gov't offcials nor San Miguel or what not, it just made me cringe kung puro tsismis / baseless accusations and no proper evidence.. Heck even some public servants like congressman does that wtf

just rode japan's tsukuba express and one of the subway trains in tokyo metro.

i think philippines should focus on rapid or semi-rapid trains. bullet trains are a little bit ambitious for a country with no real good train system to begin with.

Why does it have to be made to run in the middle of an existing road network?
Should they not instead do the development parallel to the North Expressway?
