    MANILA, Philippines -- Reigning World Pool League champ Dennis Orcollo blanked Shane Van Boening of the United States, 7-0, in the finals to emerge overall champion in the 2007 Enjoypool.com 9-ball Championships Saturday at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

    Orcollo pocketed the top prize of $15,000 (about P700,000). Boening settled for $9,000.

    Orcollo will next compete in the Predator World 10-ball championships on May 23-27 at the Bankshot Billiards Hall in Jacksonville, Florida.

    En route to the title, Orcollo beat David Reljik of Australia, 11-5; Marcus Chamat of Sweden, 11-7; Neils Feijen of the Netherlands, 11-10; Francisco “Django” Bustamante, 11-7; Jose Parica, 11-8 and Boening, 11-6, who beat Davis, 7-6, in the loser’s side to force a rematch with Orcollo.     MANILA, Philippines—Dennis Orcollo, the reigning World Pool Leaque and 2007 Enjoypool.com champion, dumped Darren Appleton of England, 10-4, yesterday to remain in the winner’s side bracket with five other Filipino campaigners in the Predator World 10-Ball Championship Bankshot Billiards Hall in Jacksonville, Florida.

    Also in strong contention were Lee Vann Corteza, the reigning 2nd BSCP National Open and 39th All Japan titlist, former world No.1 Francisco "Django" Bustamante, 2004 World Pool champion Alex Pagulayan, Marlon Manalo and US-based Al Lapeña.

    The 28-year-old Orcollo, mainstay of Bugsy promotion, will face Mike Davis of the United States in the next round. Davis ripped Huidje Sey of Japan, 10-4.

    Corteza, top player of Negros Billiard Stable, downed Ignacio Chavez of the United States (10-5) to arrange a showdown with Raj Hundal of the United Kingdom in the next round. Hudal nipped Japanese Hisashi Kusano, 10-8.

    Bustamante beat Canadian Tyler Edey, 10-5, and American Troy Frank, 10-9, respectively, He will next face Lapeña, who bested Spaniard Antonio Fazanes, 10-9, and American Ronnie Wiseman, 10-5.

    Manalo edged Swede Marcus Chamat, 10-9, and American Allen Hopkins, 10-9, while Pagulayan beat Edwin Montal, 10-5, and American Stefan Cohen, 10-8.
