To appreciate why to not CVT, one has to have a full grasp of its design & operation.Friction leads nowhere but to wear & sad short stories.

So proper maintenance, how long would a CVT last?

December 4th, 2019 09:54 AM #124according to google, a properly maintained cvt will last 120-160K km of ordinary driving. personally, it seems too under-estimated.
others say 5 years of ordinary driving. i also think this is under-estimated.
i once owned a 10 year old 2003 lancer cedia cvt, with over 100K km on the odometer. it ran fine.
in contrast, i know of MTs whose engines gave out before the trans boxes did.Last edited by dr. d; December 4th, 2019 at 10:14 AM.

December 4th, 2019 10:12 AM #1272008 iDsi City namin for now, naka 90k kms pa lang on the original CVT.
Naka 3 CVTF Changes under Honda. On the 4th year, 7th year and 10th year (April 2019).
Ang minor problem ngayon is a (slight) shudder when full stop while on Drive (approaching stop lights or whatever is blocking forward momentum), only mitigated it seems when using 97 or 100RON na walang Biofuel mix after 3 fill ups (full tank method). T.T
Yun main problem ng model generation na ito was more the Manual Mode sa alam ko sa reports online at the time when we bought it brand new. So, hindi namin ginamit yung NGAGE type buttons on the steering wheel for Manual Mode shifting.

December 4th, 2019 10:26 AM #129Haha! I think yung shudder is more the discussion nga about prolonged use of biofuels na humihiwalay tubig over time sa tanke causing damage sa engine (components) naman. Kaya nakakalungkot nga kung ganun.
Cleaned na throttle body, checked na din ng Honda yung idling, ignition coils and changed spark plugs na din. Sinabay nung April 2019 PMS. Every three years na namin pinapagawa sa Honda para sabay sa CVTF Change. At least, yun yung naging standard schedule sa ngayon.
First 5 maybe 6 years of ownership, okay pa 91RON. After that, medyo parang alanganin, we moved to 95RON for the past 4 years. Ngayon, mukhang need to go up another price bracket, kaya nakakalungkot pag dating sa fuel. Hays.
Almost daily driven pa din siya (not me) but literal city car na lang siya QC to Makati (3 to 4 times a week). Matipid pa din kaya sayang ibenta since working naman with little issues.

December 4th, 2019 10:29 AM #130in the early days of biofuels,
nagkarga si kuya.
ginarahe nang ilang linggo yung sasakyan.
nung nais nang gamitin muli, ayaw nang umistart.
nung kinutingting yung engine... fuel starvation!
nung sinilip yung gas tank, solidified ang fuel!
mukhang naging nata de coco...
...had to replace the tank. ok naman engine.
