The chassis is lighter, so despite the smaller engine it's just as playful as the previous version.
Yeah like an engine swap. I think the minimum for a car this size should be NA 1.3 or even 1.4L. Kung lower than that, they should think about forced induction like Ford's Ecoboost.

as long as it accelerates decent enough, and goes up the ramp fine, then that's ok with me.
    heh heh.
The last modern sub-1.3L naturally aspirated engined car I drove was a Mirage. I said modern because we have old Japanese surplus 800cc multicabs in the office. Maxes out at 40-60kph, takes more than 15s to get there. Anyway teh Mirage, it was an ok car, its just that I stepped on the gas trying to overtake an L300 FB, and whoa, I can hear the stock exhaust (even idling its noisy) change note, but nothing happened.

that might be because the Mirage has a 3-cylinder 1.3 engine. the swift has a 4-cylinder 1.4 so there's more pep to it.

The Mirage has a 3-cylinder 1.2L engine while the new Swift uses 4 cylinders of the same displacement. The previous Swift has a 1.4L 4-cylinder engine.

Engine displacement is not that important. Power to weight ratio is a better factor to consider in terms of oomph or pep.

Yeah not a fair comparo, hopefully the extra cylinder gives the Swift more torque. I just find it sad that Suzuki decided to emasculate the local Swift from a 1.4 a few years ago to 1.2L. My friend has the older 1.4 and it has a good power/weight ratio.

Guys, I'm looking at Suzuki's Facebook page now, and nakita ko na this March lang, nagpunta sila sa Bataan para sa media drive ng all new Swift. I'm confused, kasi last year ko pa toh nakita. Ano iniba ng all new na toh sa model na nakita ko last November? Or ngayon lang nila ni promote?

Same (underwhelming) specs pa din. Nag media drive lang just like the Vitara from Suzuki Caloocan.

It's the same. The purpose of the drive was to promote the Swift's aftermarket potential. The units were special editions just for the drives and featured skirts and decals. Aside from those, it's all stock GL CVT models.

Don't ask me why i know lol
