Suzuki Swift 1.2 would have higher ground clearance. Swift 1.4 is CBU Japan supposedly has better build quality.

There's a separate manual for the headunit, ask from your SA.

I really like the Stock 1.4 Mags as well as the steering wheel audio controls and the compartment on the top of the dashboard. I don't really mind that it's not touchscreen or that it isn't navi ready as I do most of my navigation via google maps/waze anyways. I also like the front fascia of the 1.4 vs the 1.2. But of course the newer 1.2 wouldn't hurt with all the added features and improved fuel economy.

What's your opinion on the issues that plagued the earlier models before the 1.2? Also I'm into this thinking that the 1.4 is CBU Japan and the 1.2 is assembled in India. Does this really matter?

Nawala yung long-*ss reply ko dito for some reason. Anyway. Lemme try to recall what I said.

Our Swift 1.2, the first ones released in 2014 to mid-2015 is has the same body as as the 1.4. Exterior is identical, except for the side mirror repeaters, and of course the ride height and mags. No dash compartment, but with steering wheel audio controls.

For me, the only thing missing in the refreshed 1.2 front fascia are the DRLs standard in the European models. You can replace the silver plastic bezel in the foglamp casing with OEM DRLs if and when they are made available at the dealership.

As for the navi touchscreen, I can't really comment because I've made do without one on mine haha. But as you said, the added tech wouldn't hurt, especially if the monitor can be used with a backup camera

The detailed comparison between the 1.4 and the 1.2, as well as a discussion on the very same dilemma (used 1.4 vs new 1.2) --and also the issues of the older models-- are on the TeamSwift forums. You can check it out there. Tamad lang ako mag-copy/paste haha.

    Hope this helps somewhat.

So what do they recommend over there? the 1.4 or 1.2?

I read the thread there regarding 1.2 vs 1.4.

There's no real preference on the thread as well but they mentioned the merits of each variant.

Since the 1.4 is per order basis only and has very long wait times it's as good as discontinued. I've gone around as well and visited some showrooms and all except one carries it. It didn't even come up until I mentioned it. They don't really push Swift 1.4 sales and some outright mention it's discontinued although it's not.

They argued that if you could get a 2nd hand unit that's properly maintained and in mint condition, for a good price, that it's a good buy.

To summarize, here's what's missing in the 1.2 that's present in the 1.4:
    • Steering Wheel Audio Controls
    • White Backlight for MID (vs orange in the 1.2)
    • Buttons/Switches for navigating the non-touchscreen display
    • Boot Lamp
    • Vanity Mirror Cover
    • Rear Middle Seatbelt
    • Rear Middle Headrest
    • Instrument Panel Box above Dashboard
    • Outside Temperature Gauge
    • 6 Speakers (vs 4 in the 1.2)
    • Fabric Arm Rests
    • Center Cup Holder
    • False Floor Rack (Can have flat cargo space with seats folded down)
    • 16" Alloys (vs 15" in 1.2)
    • 140mm Ground Clearance (vs 170mm in 1.2)
    • 1.4 engine (0-100 in 10.9s)

    Here's what's missing in the 1.4 that's in the 1.2:
    • Touchscreen
    • Navi Ready
    • Silver (plastic) accent on foglamps
    • 15" Alloys (+1 15" Alloy Spare)
    • 170mm Ground Clerance
    • 1.2 engine (0-100 in 12.3s)

    Hope this helps.

I'm really wanting the 1.4 now. Too bad they didn't release a 1.6 version of the latest facelift here. I'd get that in a heartbeat. There's really not a lot of naturally aspirated 1.6 hatchbacks in the market already. They're all being replaced by smaller engines with turbos which is sad.

    A few more differences:

    1) Leather-wrapped steering wheel ng 1.4

    2) May provision for rear foglights sa 1.2

I'd argue though, that the 4 speakers of the 1.2 has better quality sound than the 6 of the 1.4

And the stock Hella horn of the 1.2 is much louder than the stock horn of the 1.4.

Longer than 3 months na daw ba yung waitlist for the 1.4? I've only seen a couple of 1.4s with the new 3-letter + 4-digit plates in MM.

If you're willing to go through the trouble, some of those in the "not in the 1.2" list can be purchased either thru the casa or abroad like the trunk light, dash compartment, and lower stock springs.

Thanks for the added info. I managed to get a feel of the 1.2 speakers as well and they really do sound good.

Yeah ganun dn sabi sakin 3 months wait time.

Isa pa palang pagkakaiba ung grill. U shaped ung sa 1.4, and iba na ung sa 1.2

Saw someone from a thread there who purchased OEM Swift parts from abroad and made his Swift 1.2 look like a Euro Spec SZ4. It looked pretty damn good but I may not have the time, skill, or contacts to be able to pull off even the simplest of mods since starting July I'll be in and out of the country until December (1-2 weeks abroad, the rest here each month).
