whypo? why deny yourself a car's potential ease of ownership, just because "it's very common na"?
innovas and vioses are very common na, yet they are still selling like... innovas and vioses!

test drive all of them, sir. then decide.

btw... i personally find the second row of the swift... too small.

Test drive first then decide. I'll be honest, the only reason I bought a Swift was because: 1) I wanted a city car na "pangharabas" pag sobrang traffic, but I didn't what something as lame and boring like the Mirage (yes, the Mirage is extremely boring to drive and handles like turd). 2) I wanted something that looks good and the Swift is arguably the best looking hatch in the 600K range.

However, the Swift is my 3rd car and the fact that the Swift's space is abysmal doesn't matter to me because I have bigger options when needed. But if I were a new car buyer, I'd probably get the Mirage G4 GLX, or a Vios 1.3 E if I feel I need more comfort. Talagang space lang ang kalaban mo sa Swift. If you're single or a young couple, the Swift is perfect. If a family with only one kid, pwede na siguro. A family with two or more kids? Get a sedan or MPV.

Basically the trade off for the poor space is the Swift's superior unmatched driving dynamics and looks. Rewarding yung Swift when you drive it hard. The Swift and Fiesta are the closest things under 1M Php to an 86 or MX-5 in terms of fun factor. Funnily though, parehas talagang masikip ang Swift at Fiesta. Halos parehas lang.

P.S. Maliit wheel well ng Grand i10. At most, 15" rims largest na malalagay mo. Kung 16", manipis na yung tires. My Swift has 17" rims with 205/50/R17 tires no problem.

My last resort is to take it to Rapide and have them assess it. If they find a problem I will take the diagnosis to the dealership.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Regarding your "very common na" statement, I wanted to share this :

I remember when my father chose the Swift 08 model over other mainstream hatchback models back then that I recommended to him. These are the Toyota Yaris and Honda Jazz due to ease of ownership brought by better market presence and the Getz diesel which brings power and frugality. His reason is he like the design better and it is very rare during that time. IIRC, there were only 2 Swifts in our town for quite a long time.

My father told me he feels he is 10 years younger when he is driving it. No issue on ownership since he has an alternative vehicle if ever unreliability issue bites and he has the capacity to buy more expensive parts. Luckily, no major problem was given to us by that car up to the present.

In all honesty, I really enjoyed the Swift's driving dynamics and preppy 1.5 L engine. It also reached a point that I am envious with it since it is more common for girls to notice its handsomeness over mine. Maybe my handsomeness just doesn't exist after all.

If you have the same mindset and capacity as my father or as long as you know what will make you happy and is ready with the implications of your decision, then proceed with your shortlist.

By the way, my first car is a Vios and I might only consider a non-T badge in our 2nd or 3rd car.

*Kestana parehas tayo ng tinumbok. Hahahah

I have some friends who owns a mirage, performance is good and parts can also be as abundant as vioses soon but I prefer something different, something not common on ph streets... Mag-aaral plang din mag-drive si wifey so I chose a hatch para hindi mahirap ihandle lalo na sa pag-park.

Once a year out of town vacation siguro kapag nasa pinas ako then everyday service to school and weekend gala ng mag-ina ko. I do know na quite overpriced ang grand i10 as I can also see na meron din ang swift kung ano meron sa grand i10 except pushbutton start and folding mirror and cooled glovebox (I can lived without these toys and new swift is already equipped with navi).

I also note that swifts handling is far better than i10, FC i think is much superior din (I heard a lot of complains from previous gen i10 1.2 regarding fc) but Legroom is at stark... If someone can share a photo of rear legroom, it will really help me decide.

i stand 5' 7". and when i sit behind the driver's seat adjusted to my body, nagasgasan ang mga tuhod ko.
if the person is smaller than me, it is conceivable that his knees won't suffer the same fate as mine.

I'll share my experience with you since I've taken the time to test drive most of the hatches before I decided on the Swift.

    1) The Grand i10 has the best ride quality and NVH levels among the 600K hatches. Note that I only test drove the mid-range 1.0 S AT model, not the 1.2 model na 700K+ na. It's noticeably the most quiet, refined, and it's also the most composed when encountering humps and road imperfections. Its seating is also the most comfortable all around which have good thigh and ass support. Very cushy. Only the Swift's front seats can match it. The Swift's rear seat have poor lumbar support. The Grand i10 is definitely a class above if you're looking for a comfortable cruiser. If I'd rate it, suma na lahat ng comfort-related things, Grand i10 > Swift = Jazz > Mirage > Wigo. I would actually put the Swift ahead of the Jazz in terms of ride quality (NVH and handling of road imperfections), but the Jazz has far better space in the 2nd row, so equal na rin para sa akin.

    2) The Grand i10 is also the most spacious of the 600K hatches (not including the Jazz of course, which is over 800K). Very evident in the 2nd row where you can stretch your legs even if the seat in front isn't pushed forward. The Mirage and Wigo have good legroom too, but their seats are thin na parang economy car talaga, that's how they get the extra legroom. The Grand i10 doesn't have slimmed down/thinner seats to achieve good legroom. As you already know, the Swift as the poorest space. The boot is tiny and has a high loading lip, and the 2nd row legroom isn't good. After putting on leather seats which made the seats thicker, tumatama na yung knees ko sa 2nd row. The new Celerio offers noticeably better space than the Swift. I haven't test driven the new Celerio but I've been in it sa showroom.

    3) The Swift has the sharpest steering response and body handling by a large margin, but you may find its steering quite heavy. In comparison, super gaan ng steering ng Grand i10. Actually, I used to own a 2009 i10, and I currently own a Sorento and Soul. Very light talaga yung steering ng mga Koreans. Parang laruan. It's a love it or hate it thing. Some don't like how light and detached it is while others are amazed at how easy it is to steer. I can tell you now, the Swift is geared towards the more active driver because there is noticeably more steering resistance and sensitivity during hard driving. It is a byproduct of the communicative-ness of its steering. I'd say that the Sorento is actually easier to steer than the Swift, but the Swift is more fun to steer. It's hard to describe.

    4) The Swift's engine is the preppiest and has the best low-end torque. Good throttle response rin kahit automatic. You'll really feel it kick from 0 to around 70 kph if you press it hard. High-end power on the Swift is so-so nga lang. Maganda rin engine ng Grand i10, but it doesn't have the same low-end response and power that the Swift provides, which is important in city driving. O baka lang siguro dahil 1.0 yung i10 na tinest drive ko. But I remember my old 1.1 i10 it was very preppy, ayun nga lang MT kasi siya. As for the Mirage, the CVT was really testing my patience and you can't do what you want because it's sluggish all around. Parang pagong, the CVT variant in particular. I'm impressed with the Mirage's highway manners though considering it's a 3 cylinder. Still doesn't change the fact that the Mirage's ride quality isn't good. Only the Wigo was more unnerving at highway speeds.

Wag ka mahiya mag-test drive. Bibili ka naman. You can even drive it hard during the test drive, which I did btw. Mahirap bumili without fully realizing what you like and don't like.
