November 1st, 2003 06:02 PM #1hi.(actually madami na akong car web sites na natanong pero wala pa din ako nakukuhang sagot . hehe)
1.car is toyota vios, nabili lang last sept 19,03, recently lang napapansin ko habang nag dadrive ako parang may sumasabay na tunog sa likod (humming sound) (audible inside the car when stereo is off) im sure na yung sound nya ay nangagaling sa umiikot na bagay (tunog)...dahil kahit na patag yung daan, naririnig ko ito. even malamig or mainit yung makina. the sound is present all the time.
question is:
1. possible ba na masira ito sa 1 month time? 700 kms pa lang tinatakbo, and ndi ko pa nadadaan sa baha, (i even had a 8 year old sentra. ndi pa nasisira ang wheel bearing, not even a "echo-like"sound coming from the back)
2.possible ba na kulang lang sa lubricant or grease?
3.madali bang makita ang rear wheel bearing and kun makita na sira na ito or ok pa, or baka kailangan marami pa baklasin para lang makita ito?
4.meron bang kinalaman ang rear wheel bearing sa preno? ayos kasi break ko, and wala naririnig na weird na sound when steeping on the brake pedal. thanks a lot. - pumunta na ako sa toyota otis, the service advisor test drived the car and told me that ndi naman dangerous yung tunog, and if i want , iwan ko daw yung car para macheck nila. and balak ko isasabay ko na lang ito sa 1000 kms change oil, tune up.do you guys think na kailangan ko na ito paayos agad or antayin ko pa?...natatakot kasi ako dahil baka normal lang itong tunog...or baka DIY lang pala.sayang lang kun iiwan ko

If my hunch tells me correctly, front drive cars/sedans tend to have that kind of noise coming from the rear wheels. Primarily, rear wheels have less load compared to the front wheels.
What you can do is:
1. Try carrying additional load at the back and check if sound still persists (10-20kgs will be sufficient).
2. If you can borrow any other tire brand of same size change the rear wheels only and monitor for any sound changes.
3. You can have the rear bearings opened and re-apply axle grease, if needed.
Last edited by Ungas; November 2nd, 2003 at 09:42 PM.

November 16th, 2003 08:16 PM #3have it checked na if you ask me. malamang factory defect yung rear bearing... also check mo yung tires mo especially sa rear for abnormal tread wear... try mo suggestion no sir ungas, try another set of wheels kung mawawala ang tunog... ganyan naman ang toyota eh, hanggat makakalusot ok sa kanila para by the time your warranty expires saka naman nila sasabihin na kelangan palitan na this and that! grr!
yung corolla ko when it was still under warranty ayaw nila palitan ang parts, puro remedyo lang, pero nung natapos na warranty eh palitan ko daw ng piyesa! sarap ipalo sa kanila yung rack and pinion assy ko eh!
eto pa nakakatawa, my problem kasi sa corolla ko noon is may kalampag kapag nalulubak, suggestion ba naman ng service advisor nung nagte-test drive kami eh wag daw kasi ako dumaan sa lubak para di kumalampag! i tell you, gusto kong ipalo sa ulo nya yung kru-lock ko eh! hehehehe....

have u looked under the car, baka lang kasi me foreign object na nakadikit en sumasayad or baka backing plate na medyo tumupi en sumasayad that produces the sound...try to jackup the rear and spin the wheel by hand and listen closely for the sound or better yet remove the tire to check...
IIRC they're with AVID. The reported numbers in the TG article are from CAMPI.
