The Formula R is supposed to be one step removed from slicks. The Yokohama Advan that it's comparable to is the A048. They're both supposed to be very grippy tires, but they'll wear out too quickly if you use them on a day-to-day basis.
The Advan Neova AD07 is a great track/street tire. Lasts long, and is strong enough to survive a few nails and screws (bwisit na typhoon na yan!)... another possible track/street tire is the Falken Azenis... they're a bit better in the wet than the AD07 on track (even though the AD07 performs okay in the wet, losing grip very progressively, and not suddenly dumping it all at high cornering speeds like R-compounds will), but I haven't driven the two tires back-to-back on the same car... either the Azenis or the AD07 will do okay on your car, but the AD07 is easier to rotate, being symmetrical (but still unidirectional).
Unless you have a separate set of mags for the track, stick to the Neovas.Last edited by niky; November 19th, 2006 at 07:53 PM.

Hey Fellow Tsikoteers,
Any feedback on NITTO tires? I was over at Concept One last Saturday, just enjoying the bling and was pleasantly surprised to know when I inquired that the Nitto tires for these sizes were cheaper by their Bridgestone and Falken counterparts by about P3K*:
245/35r20: Nitto NT-555 P13K ; Bridgestone Potenza G3 P16K+/-
295/50r20: Nitto NT-404 P16K ; Falken ZIEX STZ04 P19K+/-
If there's nothing horribly wrong with Nitto tires, as in the case of the Firestone to Ford, and perhaps Kumho/Hankook to Hyundai, then they make good alternatives to the earlier established brands. Or am I comparing tires of different tire grades/levels, hence the diff in price?

What's the current price range for 185/65R14s today? I'm not into performance tires so any decent daily driver brand and model will do. My current ER60s are good and they lasted more than two years of almost daily city driving.

Gusto mo GR80? Those are great compared to the regular ERs, more grip, more quiet. My cousin upgraded his ERs to GRs for his Accord... and they're great.
Puwede rin siguro C-Drive or Vivacy... but if there's nothing wrong with the Turanzas, just upgrade to the higher model nalang.
