    one way to know if brakes overheated aside from the "feel" method:

    i did this one on my pickup.

    i put a paint rated at 650 F (since the Vetto brand brake pad i installed is rated at 650 F) on the caliper and brake drum.....if the color changed, then probably the pads are overheated....

    bought the paint at ACE. hindi pa naman nagbabago kulay sa ngayon. ride is automatic tranny pickup.

    update: had my brake fluid replaced/bled during the weekend at servitek. it was a good decision since the reservoir already has some 'goo' deposits. they removed the reservoir and cleaned it, then bled the brake lines. now adding another item in my maintenance list.

    For long and steep downhill roads go for L or 2. You should have just left it in D going uphill though.
