If this gets torn the grease will leak out and if water gets in it can damage the CV Joints axel bearings etc.
If so mas malaking gastos yon.
Boots are cheap naman around 150 plus axel grease. Make sure to check it before rainy season or best every 6 months. You can do this yourself but medyo mahirap rin since the tear might be concealed

Damage boots can lead to $$$ repairs.
On MB100s, even something as the shifter boot (for the shifter in the cabin) gets torn, lots of heat and noise will enter the cabin.
