    Hi sir,

Tnx to dr.d, marunong naman ako mag adjust using the baklas gulong method, kaso nga lang may nababasa ako sa google na may mas madaling paraan using a flat screw driver(as what others said) and the reverse then brake method. I'm researching right now para next time baka may easier way para hindi na ako magbaklas ng gulong.

basically, you'll see the toe end (top) of the leading & trailing shoes connected to the slave cylinder habang yung heel end (bottom) of the shoes are stationary connected by a spring. others may be held by a pin. eto yung leading-trailing type na hindi mo maadjust by reverse travel kundi by hand brake actuation or manual adjustment of the starwheel.

maybe this time, masasabi mo na via this pic borrowed from another parts site:TOYOTA INNOVA KIJANG INNOVA TGN41L-GKPDKV | POWERTRAIN-CHASSIS | REAR DRUM BRAKE WHEEL CYLINDER BACKING PLATE | Japan Parts EU

in my opinion, the proper way to adjust brake shoe clearance, is via the star wheel. once that is accomplished, then the handbrake cable is adjusted. using the handbrake cable to adjust the clearance may not be a good idea, as there will always be some degree of stress on the system (i.e. cable), which may lead to stretching-cable syndrome.. you end up adjusting the handbrake more often..

yes tama kayo sir. given na binaklas lahat ng pyesa ng brake drum is mauunang iadjust ang starwheel then hand brake actuation or reverse travel for the final adjustment

pero what i'm also saying is, provided in good condition ang parking brake mechanism e everytime you use the parking brake e nachcheck din nya yung clearance. if cables are broken, mas maganda pa rin na palitan to with oem quality. yung mga replacement e parang walang teflon lining kaya parang magaspang ang movement. if i recall some numbers correctly, one actuation of the parking brake lever will decrease the clearance by 0.003 ba iyon o 0.008. whatever. please check na lang.

Seems like baklas gulong method ang pinaka effective. Hehe. Tnx very much ulet sa inyong mga replies. I hope tuis thread will help others as well.

imo, movement of the parking brake adjuster is designed to achieve the optimum clearance. not too wide and not too small clearance. tsaka konti lang talaga ang movement. one pull of the parking brake lever will move the starwheel adjuster by one tooth (about thousand of an inch?). kaya with continuous use, makukuha rin nya yung tamang gap.

like what happened in my case, left drum parking brake engages while the right drum does not. may binding sa cable na hindi ko matanggal. decided to replace it then adjusted via the handbrake lever alone. ayun, nag-increase yung reserve distance yung brake pedal. but of course chineck ko before and after replacement kung nagana yung mga adjuster parts. after the replacement ng cable e ayun naaactuate na nya yung lever sa trailing shoe. that is, nilagyan ko ng match marks yung sa starwheel to see if it moves. ayun nagmove nga.

anyway, humahaba na usapan natin. just sharing my thoughts on this.
