Thank you, mga sir! This gives me confidence in FXTs.

Im actually torn between a 2016 CRV and 2016 FXT.
FXT for overall power, CRV for cheaper maintenance and fuel economy... Life choices, you know?

Well, maintaining a Honda ain’t going to be cheap but with its gas NA engine, the CRV has less components to worry about. The FXT comes with a turbocharger plus more electronics related to its complex AWD system.

2016 CRV is still 4th gen, both 2.0L NA FWD and 2.4L NA AWD have 5-speed AT.

2017 onwards is 5th gen. 2.0L NA FWD has CVT while 1.6L turbo diesel has 9-speed AT.

Thanks, bai. A Honda-loyal relative currently has the AWD & FWD gen4, both bought used recently...after he saw the 5th gen. Seems really happy w/ them. He went thru gens 1&2, skipped the gen3 & isn't planning on the 5.

The 3rd and 5th have good proportions for a CUV. The design of the 4th gen seems a bit off with its raised rear end.

The CRV was never the sporty CUV even with the K24-powered AWD versions of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generations. It was more of a comfortable cruiser. The newer 5th gen with the 1.5T engine is the most powerful model available but it comes with the CVT tranny like the 1.5T models of the Civic and Accord.

Best for me are 1, 3 and 5 generations.

I skipped the 2 and 4 but planning to buy a 4th Gen just waiting for a good unit to come by.

Hehe...Agree. His HondaTech buddies swayed him to the 4. Dealership service stats convinced him of the 4's build & reliability. Both of us had the same gen2 once....probably the worst of generations. They all burnt oil. The tranny wasn't well matched. Ours was likely a lemon. Rust popped on doors, AC was faulty, to name a few peeves. Swapped it w/ a used gen2 RAV of about the same age & odo....Night & day. The AWD RAV was perfect. Ownership, troublefree....Ooops, sorry, way OT now.Subaru Forester
