The running light is very bright white (see attached picture above) and always on when car running. But if you adjust the light knob to Front light (2nd lever on light switch), it becomes a bit dimmer.. but the section is always on. If you switch on headlights, its bit dimmer because you have the headlights on already. There is no way to turn off all front lights when running (Edit: However when the car is parked and handbrake is applied when you first start the car, the running light is off.. then turn on only after you pull down the handbrake. At least there is a way to turn it off while at mall parking with engine running as someone just told me and it's the only way to turn it off when car is not running in the street!) If someone knows how to deactivate when car running in the streets. Please let me know as I don't want any front light activated when passing by some areas attracting undue attention. Subaru won't deactivate it.

About the alarm. Note the 2.0i-L doesn't have keyless entry. It needs a key to turn on engine so the Code Alarm CA won't work. If anyone has successfully installed an Alarm System in their Forester. Please let me know so I'd know what wiring can be cut or other unexpected details (so as not to void the 3 year warrantee on crucial parts). Thanks.
Your Fozzie looks great! I wonder if those DRLs are replaceable without changing the entire headlight assembly?

    Pls read carefully the details-

Factory keyless upgrade to vehicle security system. Great if you already have an existing keyless entry integrated with your key, this will upgrade your system to a proper alarm system using your EXISTING REMOTE.

Is the iL equipped with the auto rear hatch, keyless entry, push button start and moonroof? Those were the feautures absent in the other brands at the same price range the made me choose forester in the end.

When the light switch is in auto or full of. The DRLs are fully on when engine running with handbrake released. The Daylight Running Lights are imbedded within the C-Lamps. The parking light is only half the intensity of the DRL so maybe half of the LEDs are used in parking light versus full LEDs when DRL engaged (In DRL mode, there is no rear light whereas if you enabled parking light mode only.. the rear would also light up).

sientobiente, i'm not sure, the DRL are part of the C-Lamps and headlight assembly. Anyway. I talked to Suburo Global City technical kanina and convinced them to disable the DRL, they can disconnect the connectors daw.. so will have it disabled next week. DRL may look cool but I'm afraid attracting the attention of carjackers (most cars in streets don't have DRLs).

The 2.0i-L doesn't have auto rear hatch, keyless entry, push button start and moonroof which is present in the 2.0i-P or Premium. But at least the 2.0i-L now has X-mode, 7 air bags, Hill Assist, rear camera, DLRs, Auto Climate control etc. only present in the V versions of Innova and Fortuner. I think X-mode is like Vehicle Stability Control, Active Traction Control, Hill-start Assist in the Fortuner 4x4 V Diesel A/T selling at 2,126,000 pesos.

I could have chosen the Fortuner but my elderly parents can't climb it. Innova sana but my date would dislike it. Kaya Forester na pili

Mr.Big18. I'll inquire from Code Alarm CA next week and possibly have it installed (hope it can automatically lock doors when accelerators pressed which is the main thing I"m looking for). Thanks for the tips.

You're probably the first person to be concerned of carjacking just because you have DRL lights. There's a low probability of Subarus being carjacked in this country. It's not really on their hot list.

Check Fusion R in Cubao regarding radiators for foresters. Look them up for more information.

I dint see the connection between DRL and carjacking actually.

Once driving with my friend in Araneta. We witnessed a carjacking when an Innova was forcibly entered by 2 men and we don't know if the occupant still alive today. Also I had a friend who knew someone who had a new car and while driving at night in somewhat dark place, he was intentionally hit upon slightly so he could stop his car and got carjacked. It is so rampant now and more heinous that the occupants are not only killed but also tortured. Last Monday "The senator buckled down to work by pushing for the passage of a measure seeking stiffer fines against carnappers in the country. Senate Bill No. 2794, or the New Anti-Carnapping Law of the Philippines, was passed on third and final reading on Monday."

Grace Poe returns to Senate, seeks stiffer penalties vs carnappers

DRLs can attract carjackers because only latest model cars and high end (like the V versions of Innova and Fortuner) has them. But then because only few cars has them.. who knows it may even be deterrent or no effect (which is what you guys believed). I'll ponder on your points. I tried removing the fuse label "daylight running light" in my car but no effect, weird.. I talked to Subaru yesterday again.. they said they will experiment how to remove the wiring as they have never tried it before (in all branches). They will let me know today. I want some kind of switch so when I passed by squatters area (where some of my friends live) I want it off so as not to cause more attention than necessary (it makes the base 2.0i-L more expensive and sport cars looking especially with the LED eyeball like headlights that can rotate left and right like hawk eyes).
