It is a decent car, yes. I just hate the fact that after month of getting it come the announcement of a version with Eyesight. Had I known about this sooner, I wouldn't care about the excise tax and will exert the patience of waiting until the Eyesight version is out.

    Sorry for the rant

You’ll lose a lot more in trading it in when compared to directly selling it. They need to make a profit out of your 2nd hand unit.

Do you really need the Eyesight system? If not, it is a waste of time speculating on things. You said yourself it is a decent car so you are satisfied with your purchase.

I wouldn't trade or sell my Forester when the newer model came out a month or two after with adaptive headlights.

It's more of want than need but then again it adds to the overall safety feature set of the car. I'm satisfied with my purchase but there's something lacking. And that lacking is Eyesight. I knew, even before buying it, how I would feel when Eyesight comes out this year but I just didn't expect it to be announced this soon.

The most important bits Eyesight bits for me are adaptive cruise control and the various automatic braking mechanisms.

Your only option is to sell your XV at a huge loss and get a new one with Eyesight.

You'll probably lose around 300-500k just for Eyesight considering depreciation and excise tax. If you want it that bad, then go.

If not, then just live with your XV or be the first in the world to retrofit Eyesight. You'll have to skip over sales agents to get your request done. It's an unusual and definitely pricey request so go talk to the head service guys from MotorImage if they can even accommodate such a request.

If it's that much then I'm not that desperate. I guess I'm just checking for options as I'm new to this industry.

My concerns are just reactions to a shattered expectation given to me by an incompetent SA.

Maybe I have to ask Motor Image if they can accommodate some small changes to the XT; a free ECU upgrade to JDM power specs (280hp) and better sound insulation at very high speeds.

I don't think SAs fully understand the Eyesight system and probably think it's just another camera that's why he offhandedly stated that you can have it retrofitted.

Like I said, that's something beyond their league and you're better off talking to the head service advisor if you want credible advice as to whether it can be done or not.

I always take what the SA says with a grain of salt. Some of them really don’t know the product. I rely more on forums and self research.

Yeah that's what I though although he said that the information came from their "training". The information I got today was from the head service advisor that just came from training this week. I guess they have different sets of trainings.
