Thanks for the responses, guys! Now I know I'm not doing something wrong.

Also good to know that it is better to put the gear in N, instead of P, while waiting at intersections. Thanks!

Hill Start Assist does not activate when on level ground even when the button is pressed so it can't be used as a pseudo-Brake Hold feature.
Questions about the Hill Start Assist -

How does it differ from just engaging the Electronic Parking Brake?

For example, while waiting on parking ramps, is it better to use the Hill Start Assist or engage the Electronic Parking Brake? Will they have the same effect? Both will disengage whenever the accelerator is pressed, right?

    Thanks again.

Some drivers prefer automatic transmission because of this. Why the need for these features? They have other purpose.

But the E-brake can be used in place of the Hill Start Assist dba?
The difference I can see is you can always set the hill start assist to "on" and it will automatically hold/assist the vehicle every time you're in an incline/angle.

While for the E-brake, you need to press it every single time huminto ka para mag hold. Tama?
Bakit kaya wala yun auto hold feature ng E-brake sa XV...

He puts gear in D and uses the engine to mimic hill hold ... which is not a smart thing to do, it also accelerates wear and tear ...

"because it makes life more convenient."
veteran drivers and real men (whatever that means, heh heh) may eschew them, but there is always someone out there, who will decide on the basis of its presence.

I use the parking brake when parked or on a red traffic light and place the shift stick to “N”. I use the “P” when parked with engine off.

On a stop-and-go situation on a uphill road, I just use the brake to stop and the gas pedal to move forward. In an automatic transmission, transferring your foot from brake to gas pedal when you are about to move forward will hold your car and prevent the car from moving backward. In this case, why the need to use the parking brake.

Because for steeper slopes, the car will still move backward even though it is in D mode unless you depress the gas pedal lightly? That's where the electronic brake is useful.

But isn’t that what the hill start assist is for? So the car won’t roll back on an incline?
