Just curious, What kind of paint imperfection? What color is your XV?

It's kinda hard to explain (and also hard to see in pics) but it's an imperfection between the colored area of the bumper and the black plastic mudguard of the bumper. So it's on the edge. My XV's color is Dark Blue.

I recently discovered a "feature" on the XV - whenever I come to a full stop and anticipate that I'll be staying there for a few minutes (e.g., at an intersection with traffic light), I put the gear in Neutral or Park and engage the electronic parking brake. When it is time to move forward, I put the gear in Drive and disengage the parking brake, then step on the accelerator.

But, one time, I forgot to disengage the parking brake. When I stepped on the accelerator, the electronic parking brake automatically disengaged.

Have any of you been doing it this way - i.e., just stepping on the accelerator without depressing the electronic parking brake switch? Was it really intended to work this way?

    Just wondering...

    I do exactly the same

Just a friendly advice though, do not put the gear to P while on an intersection (red light). That's one of the bad habits that Filipinos usually do. Use only the P gear when literally parked. Use N when in an intersection as that is the correct way of doing it. I forgot the technicalities behind this but if you watch some Youtube videos you'll see that they recommend the same.

I agree with this. Moving the shifter to P opens up the possibility that you'll shift to R instead of D.

P also physically locks your transmission by inserting a metal tooth into one of the gears. If you get hit from behind while in P your transmission can get damaged.

And besides, I don't get the point of doing this. I don't see any benefit at all. Shifting to N from D is way easier than going all the way to P and then back to D when it's time to move again

Driving a a 2018 TOTL CRV is a different story because you can easily press P or N from D. So kung CRV yung car maiintindihan ko pa na ginagawa to ng ibang tao.

I checked in the user manual and the electronic parking brake will disengage when you press the accelerator, it will not disengage if door is open or in P or N and gas is depressed.

It has a separate Hill Start Assist button. Useful while waiting on parking ramps but I still keep my foot hovering over the brake pedal just in case.

Hill Start Assist does not activate when on level ground even when the button is pressed so it can't be used as a pseudo-Brake Hold feature.
