With all the electronics in these new cars I'm more comfortable leaving the security system alone. The horn will sound if a locked door is forcibly opened. Doesn't deter basag kotse gangs though. Besides who minds blaring car alarms anyway. Yung iba madaanan lang ng motor maingay na agad.
The XV also has an immobilizer so the car won't start if the key is not inside.

May 6th, 2019 02:22 PM #1402Ah, that's what I needed to confirm. That wasn't really explained to us by the SA. All she said was, "Ma'am hindi nyo naman talaga siya kailangan," (referring to the car alarm system) "tsaka po kung magpapakabit kayo sa labas baka ma-void yung warranty kasi CBU (completely built unit) na po siya nung dumating," something to that effect.

This happened to me as well. Help, anyone?
Had a Forester for 7 years, no alarm set up. It was a bit nerve wracking at first, having come from a car with an alarm. But I was told that if there's an immobilizer installed, it takes the place of the alarm in that car won't run. (although it won't create a ruckus, unlike an alarm haha).
Update on HU:
I tried to have my HU replaced via casa, with the one which has Starlink, but I've been told wala na talagang old units. So I'm stuck with the Panasonic, unless I upgrade to an aftermarket HU.
It does NOT have Carplay or Android Auto. It has Weblink which can mirror Waze. (there's a warning that it's only up to a certain version of Waze, so if I upgrade, the Waze functionality will disappear). A few cons:
1. Medyo malabo resolution pag naka-Waze;
2. HU can't do 2 things at the same time - for example, if I have Waze on the HU, I can't play Spotify or podcasts via bluetooth audio. Di niya kaya mag-multi-task. Haha. Is this peculiar to the Panasonic HU? I don't know if other HUs can do this. I would think that if I had Android Auto, I can use Waze and also play music.

For those with Eyesight, what dash cam did you use and where did you place/position it?

With the recent refresh of the Impreza for 2020, we can expect a similar model refresh of the XV in late 2020 (which probably means a 2021 arrival in Manila).
At the moment, the stock HU leaves a lot to be desired and it isn't likely it will be getting changed prior to the 2021 refresh.
Still, the base model is a pretty good value at 1.4M prior to discounts, especially if one can figure out how to get the HU upgraded.
