Hi April. We just got our XV 2.0i-S with EyeSight and were advised windshield would not be tinted so as not to perhaps interfere with the feature. OK na din to stay on the safe side. We also managed to get a Magic Tint upgrade from the dealership

    Thanks Egan101, SpinCycle and bruisedlee!

I hope current owners will indulge me with my questions below (been trying to backread, and I realized that the bulk of the posts in this thread is from September 2017 onwards. whew)

    1. I'm new to this push-button start system. Is there an equivalent to the "On" position - when one could technically turn on the HU, for example, without turning on the engine?

    2. I think what I have is the auto-dimming rear view mirror. Why does it seem like it's just dim? Haha. Or is my tint just dark? Just weird that even during daylight, it feels like it's dark. The tint on my Forester's rear door was also dark, and yet I could see clearly using my rear view mirror.

    3. Is it really true that you can't roll down windows if car is newly tinted?

    4. I saw some who had their units undergo "ceramic coating". What is that for?

    5. Is the "no OR/CR no travel" policy still in force?

The 1st press of the switch without pushing the brake pedal is the "acc".

Press the start / stop button with depressing the brake pedal ... It will cycle through off-acc-on ...

You can but it's best if you don't ...

    4. I saw some who had their units undergo "ceramic coating". What is that for?

It's like a longer lasting, more durable wax ... lasts 2-3 years to 5-8 years depending on type of coating (and cost) ... Makes your vehicle easier to clean and also makes the paint "shine" better ... kind of like a really wet look paint ...

I am pleased to say that I got the Subaru XV with eyesight (the red one). and it's like I've gone full circle. I'm quite happy with my choice - I had originally wanted to change brands, maybe a Mazda or a Honda for a change - but I think I had unfinished business with the XV so I just had to get one. Maybe I'll do the switch if I get the chance to buy another car 6-8 years from now

I haven't had the chance to drive it much. I hope mas matipid siya than my 2012 Forester. Haha. Also, I will try out the "no tint on windshield" option, and see if I can withstand the summer heat.

Btw, the HU is now Panasonic - I will try to figure out how to get Android Auto to work.
Congrats! We too (my wife in particular) had unfinished business with the XV. Back when it first came out it was beyond our reach financially. She indulged me when I got my Mazda 5 years ago. When the right time came it was only fair that we went for her first love. The improvements on the new model made it worth the wait.

Still pining for the Forester though. Di lang kasya sa garahe

We would have gotten a red unit but because my father-in-law already has a red car she went for dark blue. If you decide to ceramic coat it Technical Details in Marikina did an excellent job on our car. The casa gave us free swirls and holograms even when I told them not to polish it.

My sister-in-law has no complaints so far re the no-front-tint-for-Eyesight rule. She's very particular about cabin temperatures.

Balitaan mo kami sa Panasonic HU. Hope it still retains the AA and Carplay feature that the old Starlink HU had.

We're in Region 4 (Batangas) and were advised not to take the car to Manila until we have the OR/CR on hand. Exact reason wasn't provided though upon asking! hehe. I just assumed maybe enforcers are more keen on pulling us over even though we don't have any violations.

was able to run side by side an XV sa TPLEX before.

nung una nakakasabay pa yun altis ko upto 160kph pero mejo sumisigaw na yun makina ko, then this XV na kasabay ko biglang ang tulin nag overtake pa ng walang ka effort effort. lakas ng makina ng XV tsaka mukhang stable even on high speed. chill na chill lang. astig....

the XV driver flashed his hazard after overtaking...haha. kakamayan ko sana. so i just honk my horn, dapat ata headlight yun ni flash ko.

The Altis and CRV have similar top speeds, a little over 200 kph.

Even 0-100 is similar at ~11 seconds for both cars.
