Slaughter earns recommendation from UAAP committee
    06/28/2011 | 07:40 PM

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) eligibility committee has recommended that Ateneo center Greg Slaughter be allowed to play in the coming men's basketball wars, which opens on July 10 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Slaughter, who played for the Pilipinas-Smart Gilas prior to the 74th UAAP, got the nod of the five-member UAAP eligibility committee, chaired by University of the Philippines' Lailani Gonzales after a Tuesday meeting.

Technically, Slaughter's eligibility and the rest of the players in the UAAP have yet to be finalized as the recommendations will still be elevated to the UAAP Board. The board will decide with finality on July 5 whether to uphold or deny the recommendations made by the eligibility committee.

"The recommendations of the eligibility committee will be elevated to the UAAP Board where we will decide with finality on who is eligible or not," said UAAP board member Junel Baculi of National University.

"In the board meeting, anything can still happen," Baculi said.

Slaughter's status was questioned after he played in the PBA when Gilas joined as a guest team in the pro league's second conference, the Commissioners Cup.

There were contentions that Slaughter's PBA stint is a violation of UAAP rules because he had played in a commercial league while still undergoing residency with Ateneo after being recruited from the University of Visayas Green Lancers. - Reuben Terrado/JVP, GMA News
nothing is for certain at this point but at least it's two steps forward for slaughter and ateneo

w/ regards to ryan buenafe, there was no case filed by anybody. lahat nung rumors regarding that are simply rumors.

care to share? or yung harassment case daw?

Alanganin daw yung Slaughter at Parks coz of the residency issue nila sa school.

yung court sa MOA dun na ata maglalaro ang NCAA.

    * the Buenafe case, been hearing about "that" (ano ba yan, sa dami naman ng chicks na pwede since player ka naman... pagpipilitan pa) but still, panay chismis naman and there are no real deal allegations filed. I dont care if he's out of the team even if he's an instrumental player and figure since i've been hearing about his attitude problems since before.

Ateneo ako... kahit nung talunan days pa.

NU will be a better team this year but you dont win championships overnight. It took Norman Black three years to build his system; FEU will probably be the main contender along with ADMU. As for DLSU, i really miss the "angas factor" the team used to strut years ago.

Sayang naman si UST; what happened to their program?

What I hear from UST, FEU and UE is that masyadong palakasan system. AdMU really created a good program starting from recruitment and I hope they continue to be straight in ther dealings. 1997-2001 talunan yan pero tiyaga lang talaga. UP hirap pa rin makabangon, gusto ko attitude nila e.
