Dwight ready to dunk
Center Dwight Howard, the NBA's dunk leader, is likely headed to the all-star weekend as the tallest competitor in the slam-dunk contest, which long has catered to smaller, acrobatic players.
"He's about 90 percent certain," said Mary Ford of Goodwin Enterprises, which represents Howard.
Aaron Goodwin, Howard's agent, said recently he expects the league to formally invite Howard to compete.
Howard, 6-11, is also expected to be named to the Eastern Conference all-star squad by coaches.
Howard's camp is hoping the dunk contest can increase his profile. Ford says that a dream showdown would match Dwight and Nate Robinson, the tallest dunker against the smallest dunker. Robinson, a New York Knicks guard, won the dunk contest last season at 5-9.
