ah ganun ba... insurance saan., nalilito ako nba owner (siguro) dont care about that much sa insurance IMHO insurance cant replace playing time and players. what if for instance a player, lets say, Wade suffer a career ending injury while playing in such international event. wag naman sana.

Most of the contracts have insurance for injuries.

ofcourse the owners care, investment nila yan. Altho insurance picks up around 80% of the salary, it still counts against the teams salary cap.

IMHO USA should send one NBA team excluding, of course international player/s playing on the team, lets say Miami Heat or any team. players familiarity and cohesiveness and unity is more important than individual talent.

i understand where you are coming from, but there is no one team that has the firepower to stack up against any of the top-tier teams from Europe, or Argentina. the way the NBA is, talent is too evenly distributed, and the NBA champion usually has no more than two superstars and a good supporting cast.

the best all-American rosters in the NBA today belong to the Heat and Pistons (di pwede Spurs, Phx or Dallas because Gino, Parker, Nash, Diaw and Dirk will be playing for other countries). they will go up against teams comprised of Euro league and NBA all-stars who have good knowledge of each other's games.

i think what they are doing is the right way - bring in the best coaches with knowledge of the international game, invite players who fit well in that game and with defined roles on the team, and only pick those that will represent their country with commitment and pride.

Well, I do because he's not tradeable... No team can logically take him into their roster. As I remember, there's an article about that somewhere, like if you take out the championship/playoff contending teams, they wouldn't bother adding such a big commitment to a team that's doing well...

Then you take out the teams that have no cap room...

Then you take out the teams who are into a youth movement...

You're left with only a couple of teams that "may" gamble, but teams like Indiana, Boston, etc have high scoring, high profile players that are still in their prime, adding such an expensive, long term, aging player (no matter how good), doesn't make sense.

He can only go to a team that's thinking "win now" like the Knicks hehe.
