he gives the term "shooting guard" a new meaning. the most amazing thing about his line is the 2 assists.

...i think what makes MJ a cut above the rest was his ability to market the NBA (or maybe himself) to the whole world without even trying.
...yun nga lang, di bumenta yung pabango niya.

well.. 81 pts is indeed something to behold.. as there was no footage of the 100 pts game by wilt.. considering that kobe is not THAT VERY DOMINANT not like wilt, so an 81 by an SG is quite amazing.
going back to the topic.. i think there will never be another michael jordan. kobe will have his place. just my $0.02.

nah! MJ is MJ, Kobe is Kobe. Kanya-kanyang panahon lang yan. Saka iba ang level ng competitiveness ngayon sa NBA kesa dati.

i think the Kobe/MJ comparisons are not completely valid, but they at least make sense. the game hasn't changed THAT much between their eras - remember that they even played against each other for a short time. the Wilt era is much tougher to compare against because the game was completely different then, i agree.
Kobe's getting closer. as bad as his image is, he gets the job done. Kobe's winning this season and he doesn't even have a Pippen to back him up (Odom = big disappointment). it takes a season of watching to really appreciate how bad Smush, George, Walton, Mihm and Cook really are. if he can take CBA-level talent to the playoffs there shouldn't even be any conversations about who the MVP is.
Kobe vs. Wilt - i'm more impressed with Kobe's 81 than Wilt's 100. Wilt had no one to match on size and strength, and he scored very efficiently (feed ball in, turn around and shoot over defender from 5-10 ft). plus, he expended relatively little energy on defense camping out in the paint. Kobe had to go through at least 3 layers of defenders all the time, and he played his typical great defense on the perimeter as well. i would also argue that Wilt doesn't have the same killer instinct that Kobe has.
Kobe vs. Mike - MJ pa rin, but the gap is getting closer. both are similar - probably the two most unguardable perimeter players in the history of the game, both won a string of championships with Phil and another 50 Greatest player - the only difference is that MJ still did a better job of making his teammates better.

It's not surprising how kobe scores... I think I remember that game they had with seattle(sonics pa nun si payton) 03-04 season around jan. or feb. 04 where he made like 7 or 8 3's that game. But 81 points is really somethingm with todays brand of basketball. kala ko sa PS2 lang nangyayari ganitong klase ng scoring
Next stop, 101pts hehehe.
Dapat kinuha ng raptors si ruben patterson aka "the kobe stopper" hehehe
I also remember the time when AI scored 40 or more points 3 consecutive times during his rookie year. Grabe ang talent ng mga to!!!
Whatever your 2cents is on the "81pts" kobe definitely has a wicked game.
Naalala ko, as a child and being part of those elementary hoops teams we had someone who could score at will, star player kumbaga hehehe. Sa kanya namin pinapasa parati yun bola because he shoots it with ease. He can drive and score. What can we do as teammates? Wala talaga eh We were sissys hehehe Di rin kami mascore kaya sya lagi gumagawa, kesa naman matalo kamiI may not know how it feels to be a scorer pero I have a picture of what kobe's teammates feel hahaha

numbers in parenthesis is that team's rank for the '05/06 season in terms of opponents' points allowed.
all those games were wins except for the Memphis game, which was a 1-pt loss.
