Aside from the weight, anong difference or advantage ng mga higher end components? Naka Altus lang kasi ako now, ano bang mapapala ko kung mag upgrade ako to Deore, Deore LX, or Deore XT?

i picked this up from yahoo answers.
i don't necessarily agree with the weight issue because XTs are actually lighter than XTRs, but the finish, quality and durability comments are dead on.
The short answer is features, finish, weight, quality and durability.
Lines like Dura-Ace and XTR have a highly polished finish which gives it a nice, sophisticated, high-bling look. The aforementioned groups also tend to be lighter, more durable, and feature the newest technology - like the two piece cranks, ten speed casettes, and so on.
The cheaper groupsets aren't quite as durable, and have a more plain, less finished look to them.
You get what you pay for is the rule of thumb here.

yung dura-ace, top of the line ng shimano sa road bike components nila. yung XTR, top of the line components nila sa mountain bikes. so, i'm assuming they'd be comparable sa price.

Izuzoom, how much is the maxxis maxxlite 310? I'm thinking of changing my tires..
Also, i want to upgrade to discbrakes, anybody knows the latest price range for a set(including hubs)? Haven't been to the bikeshops for a long time, but last time i kinda like Hayes(tama ba) brand.

What's the advantage of disc brakes over v-brakes? I also would like to upgrade to disc brakes because of the bling factor
, but it would be better if it brakes better than v-brakes :bwahaha:
