medyo newbie pa po ako sa biking. i just got my bike (mountain bike) last december.
It has a 26x2.1 tire, and i usually bike on road pag weekend.
i think the tire is not optimized for my use sa road. I'm considering replacing the tires with a thinner width. I have seen some mountain bikes with thinner tires than mine.
1. Will it be significant? that is, the pedaling effort will be lighter?
2. if yes, how thin can i go? what is the compromise with thinner tires? and what is the usual width for road use for a mountain bike?
3. any recommended tires that i can look at? (if there are).
thanks in advance.

Yes 26x2.1 is a wide tire good only for loose packed road and mud trail. Shifting to 26x1.95 will lessen the tire rolling resistance and grip but it will increase speed. If you bike 80% on road or hard packed trail size 26x1.95 is ok for you.
Kenda Karma good cross country tires dry or wet surface.

it sure looks like you're having a hard time deciding.
ask yourself these questions? what kind of riding will i be doing? cross country, fire roads, single tracks, downhill, etc.? maybe a combination of all? maybe you won't even hit the dirt at all, then you'd be better off with a road bike or a hybrid. yun lang naman eh.

The one I really want to do is go skydiving! That's the most free spirited, never complicated sort of fun! Not to mention yung adrenalin rush...

Meron mga ok na aluminum frames na worth 3.5K lang, like Vision and a certain model of Merida frame.

Sorry, hindi ako familiar sa mga bike shops dyan sa Metro Manila. Pero malamang meron yan sa Quiapo and Cartimar, or your suking bike shop.
someones are (at last!) loudly asking, "why did they turn off the countdown timers?"
