    thats the spirit!!!

for sure, you will be back in Cavite before 4. i-request ko na hindi muna tayo dalhin sa trail na more than 3-hr ride, and we have more experience. will post descriptions of two likely trails later i found in Action Asia Adventure Travel Guide (the Maarat Trail & the Antipolo Survival Trail) to give you an idea of the conditions.

Re your flat, how did it happen? puncture or hard landing? pare, a must on the trail is a handy tool kit (i have a topeak multi-tool which has most of what you need for emergency repairs), tire repair kit (that includes levers for removing the exterior), and at least 2 spare tubes. the tool really comes in handy and have used it several times na for tightening or adjusting things to your liking, but have yet to patch an inner tube or change one :D

also, a good water pack or a supply of at least 2 liters will make things more comfortable for you. energy bars and/or sandwiches (peanut butter is good and doesn't spoil in the heat, stay away from mayonnaise unless its still packed tight in sealed travel packs) will provide you with needed energy. :nerd:

Eto yung mga sinasabi kong trails:

    Maarat Trail
On this ride you'll be greatly rewarded with a fantastic view of the city from the highest point of the Maarat Trail. After that, its an exhilirating downhill that attracts thrill-seeking bikers. However, most take the round-trip route from the town of San Mateo at the base of Maarat, where food and water can be bought. The moderate to difficult trail is a 6-8km uphill, winding, dirt access road to Maarat used by land developers and the occasional rubbish truck headed for the Pintong Bukawi landfill. Ther have been instances of riders being barred by land developers security. The downhill ride on the barely paved, rutted and rocky road is extreme, and becomes extremely dangerous when wet, but a small number of hardcore bikers have reached downhill speeds of 80 km/h despite fist-sized rockes littering the trail in places. Alternatively, Maarat can be reached from Marikina by heading to Montalban and there is also a trail with a steep connection to the Wawa route.

    Antipolo Survival Trail
This rocky, singletrack trail starts from the Boso Boso along Marcos Highway in Antipolo, about 30km east of Manila. It then skirts Mount Tanjan to the north before looping back to Boso Boso. Set off from the J. Hernandez cycling station along the 3km winding, rutted road that leads east from Antipolo. Turn left onto a dusty trail that winds 4kms uphill and steepens sharply. Accelerate into a technical downhill stretch of loose gravel and fist-sized stones, ending at a stream crossing. A narrow 2km singletrack trail leads to another small stream, then the final 3km stretch snakes back and forth, including a series of nine stream crossings. Choose your crossing points carefully because the stream can be deceptively deep in places.
Soaking wet but totally exhilirated, you exit onto an asphalt road. Turn right and pedal 3.6kms back to the start point to complete the 15km circuit.
Note that this trail can be brutal -- both for the rider and for the bike. Make sure you have plenty of tools and spares with you.

This trail seems to be the easiest…on paper -

    Pinugay Trail
The Pinugay trail is a good cross-country route used for annual races with many possible exits and alternate routes. The off-road trail starts across the street from the Aqualand Water Park in Teresa. Its a 3km moderate uphill climb to Mt. Pinugay along the rocky fire road, used only by the occasional jeepney. At the top, you may choose from a variety of directions, all eventually leading to the 8km paved Manila East Road to Cogon or back to Teresa (for a road trip of 24 kms). Or you can go straight to Baras, passing a military radar facility.

The most challenging trail seems to be the Wawa Trail (siguro mapasigaw ka sa hirap hehehe), composed of 30-40 kms of hard trails, and needs about 7-8 hours to complete. Let’s save that for last in the Rizal area!!!

    MAXBUWAYA

kausap ko lang si Milo ngayon, and on thursday (Sept. 11), pang break in, doon daw tayo sa Pinugay trail, except meron siyang ibang take-off point.

saan ka ba dadaan? kung sa C5, we can meet in Libis, International Exchange Bank parking lot, right side yon, a few meters past the Citibank tower and driveway to Eastwood city.

Milo will meet us at the Shell gas station on Sumolong highway at 08:00. you and i, and whoever else wants to come along, should leave Libis by 07:30. if you need more time, let me know. flexible naman si Milo and i can also adjust. he knows you will be coming from Cavite

doon na natin pagusapan which trail to hit on Saturday (13) or Sunday (14). actual day will depend on availability of any other interested parties :bike: :bike: :bike:
