Alert from CPSC
Consumer Alert: Recall of RockShox Bicycle Forks
Riders suffered injuries after forks broke
CPSC, RockShox Inc. Announce Recall of Bicycle Forks
WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), RockShox Inc., of Colorado Springs, Colo., is voluntarily recalling about 220,000 front suspension bicycle forks worldwide. The compression rods inside these forks can break, causing the rider to lose control of the bicycle, fall, and possibly suffer serious injuries.
RockShox has received 23 reports of compression rods in these forks breaking, and two reports of injuries. Injuries included a concussion, a sprained wrist, scrapes and bruises.
Only 2001 Judy TT, Judy TT Special, Jett and Metro model RockShox front-suspension bicycle forks are included in this recall. They have serial numbers beginning with "01." The serial number can be found engraved on the back side of the fork's crown and on a bar code sticker attached to the fork's lower leg. "RockShox" and the model name are written on the bicycle forks. These forks were sold as original equipment on numerous brands and models of bicycles. These forks also were sold separately.
Judy TT Judy TT Special Jett Metro
Bicycle dealers nationwide sold these forks with bicycles and separately from July 2000 through October 2000. Bicycles with these forks sold for between $399 and $1,300, and forks alone sold for between $89 and $149.
Consumers should stop riding bicycles with the recalled forks immediately, and return them to the bicycle dealer where purchased for inspection and repair if needed. For a list of bicycle brands and model sold with these forks, and for more information, call RockShox at (866)888-6192 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. MT Monday through Friday, visit the firm's web site at http://www.rockshox.com/nonflash/recall

Max, you could do away with the weights. Kasi the weights will actually make pedalling easier kasi the weights will push your foot down. IMO, a better training regimen is to increase your daily distance by 5km every week till you are doing approx 30km / session. Then shift your focus to uphill climbing. After this, you will certainly be able to take on the usual city riding.

August 19th, 2003 06:26 PM #289this thread is really getting long and diverse! what do you think guys...kasi me thinks we should start building new and different threads for various subjects related to bikes and MTBs (like what PJ did with his road bike thread)....
much as i hate to cut this 20-page thread (or should we?), having subject-specific threads (like MTB - bike racks; or MTB - fork recalls; or MTB - day-trails; MTB - bike shops, etc. etc.) would allow future readers to readily find useful info about an aspect of mtbs he/she needs info on. ano kaya? because unless you've been really following this thread which shows no sign of dying, you'll miss all the helpful info na nacontribute ng mga tsikoters.
your opinions please

Ted, para sa akin ok lang naman to keep this thread going kasi iilan lang naman tayo dito sa thread na ito. Ako I wouldnt mind answering the same questions in case there is someone new who asks about something previously discussed in this thread.
What do you guys think?
someones are (at last!) loudly asking, "why did they turn off the countdown timers?"
