sir boybi how much kuha mo sa XT wheelset?
ARB Get a new bike na lang in case you are hooked to MTB...mas magastos and expensive if you upgrade...start from a better frame.

June 25th, 2008 08:52 PM #1509JJ,
don't rush in the upgrade or purchase of a new bike... working naman ang existing mo eh.
PLAN PLAN and CANVAS para maging tama ang decissions mo.
Pinoy mountain biker forum have lots of good second hand goodies din - http://www.pinoymtbiker.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=59
but you might need to register to view that.
My general rule:
1) determine what you want para tama ang body (batalya) na mabili mo sa plano mo.
the batalya have several sizes to fit you properly.... you can even have one custom made for you (if you want it unique).
2) next is the gears should be a set (generally) from shifter to derailer... kasi unlike old school bikes na de cambio pede mong ipang mix and match.... sa modern day bikes (na branded) hindi lahat pedeng i-mix and match... getting the set is sometimes the next best thing.
iba rin ang chain size ng 8 gears and 9 gears na rear sprockets or cog sets.
3) the hubs - eto ang isang nagpagastos sa akin... hindi na rin "universal" ang mga ito... can't do a mix and match... lalo na sa gears (sprocket or cog set) at disk brakes.
Some hubs will need specific type of cogs as well as disk.
hindi ko alam na ganito na ka-evolve ang bikes nowadays.... so i ended up with 2 or 3 different hubs (ipinamana ko sa ibang bike ko), 2 different cogs, 3 sets of disk brakes and 2 chain sets ... so yung pagtitipid ko end-up with a wastefull buying... at kung pagsasamahin ko ang total nung expenses na yun I could have got a very good brand of disk brake, gear set and levers, and hubs in one. If I also knew better nuon, I could have bought all those parts from second hands or those afflicted with upgraditis and I could have save nearly half.
4) last thing major thing to worry is the front shocks. some shocks can't be a good fit for some front disk brakes (diameters) unless merun kang adaptors.... so DON'T RUSH
in buying, plan and know the specs ka muna sa 4 major groups na eto.
all remaining parts (seats, handle bars, "branch" or the old-school head post, grips etc), i think will not affect the "totality" of the bike in terms of matching components.

*wildthing, dapat pala text mo muna ako tuwing may bibilhin kang parts. Dami nag upgrade sa amin dito recently.
someones are (at last!) loudly asking, "why did they turn off the countdown timers?"
