is the rear suspension for mountain bikes necessary? cause i read a post saying that rear shock absorbers and disc brakes are only needed in hard trailing. eh kung sa lugar mo lang na kung minsan ay dadaan ka sa hindi sementadong lugar? kelangan pa sila? or no need na talaga? kasi i have a mountain bike na may rear shock absorber. pero alang disc brake. necessary pa ba ang dalawang toh?

depende yan sa style ng biking mo. bike with rear shock are called full suspension bike... kung front lang it is called hardtail bike. If you go off road or trails mas ok yo use FS bike but pwede rin hardtail pero masakit sa pwet. disc brake can hold better than v-brake.

meron thread for mountain biking here...it will answer all your question.

It really depends on how you ride your bike.

Downside of having shocks absorbers and disc brakes is the added weight on the bike itself. They might not matter if you generally ride flat roads or just downhills but once you try to cycle up that rugged looking hill, that extra weight from the shocks & brakes is going to feel like an anchor. Also the rear suspension going boing-boing-boing in step with your pedaling will not help to transmit your leg power to the ground.
