Dati Minola at Baguio oil lang ang available locally, animal fats pa ata galing at sa niyog noon.....

Canola oil is short for "Canadian oil". it is extracted from rapeseed plant which is poisonous. Better stick with regular olive oil or corn oil. Canadian govt has a big lobby money to support their canola farmers, hence: "praise (press) releases" and scientific studies favorable to them.

Correct! All vegetable oils may be labelled "Cholesterol-free".

For frying, oils with high degrees of unsaturation (i.e. olive oil) are not good. They produce trans-fats on heating .

Unsaturated fats are best eaten as is, no heating i.e. salads

afaik, virgin oils (from olives or coconut) are extracted without the use of heat.

if virgin oils are subjected to heat, as in cooking, the beneficial properties go to smoke. :D

also, i always believe oils from plants do not have cholesterol. what they differ from is the amount of so called saturated and unsaturated fats.

basically we all need enough oil, number one to regulate our body temperature, some oil are good are are bad not all are created equal...

olive oil must not be use in frying, it is best use for salads, it must not be subjected into high heat for this breaks the chain thereby rendering it saturated...

for frying use an oil with a higher molecular weight(im not sure bout this yet) but use oils like corn oil, peanut oil as these are still considered good oil.

bad oil are those from beef, pork, chicken...
