October 22nd, 2021 11:35 PM #33091in the olden days, many doctors would willingly cross specialties and treat their patients for illness outside their diploma's realm of expertise.
but times have changed:
1. medical information is so plentiful and complicated nowadays, it is impossible to keep up with all specialties; and
2. the threat of malpractice suits.
the iggy issue is not as what it may appear to be, po. from what i understand, which is decidedly incomplete, medyo complicated yung kaso.Last edited by dr. d; October 22nd, 2021 at 11:44 PM.

a little background lang
when the world was blaming china for the virus china tried to shift the blame to the US
calls for china to allow access to virology lab in wuhan, china called for investigation into US fort detrick
china also said the virus was brought to wuhan by US soldiers (in 2019, military games were held in wuhan)
--
i wouldn't go as far as saying US soldiers brought the virus to wuhan
i believe the virus originated in wuhan
there was research being done on bat viruses in wuhan
a US NGO called EcoHealth Alliance was funding research (using grants* from the US government)
here's a 2018 article
https://www.ecohealthalliance.org/20...eople-in-china
NEW YORK – March 2, 2018 – The result of its continued surveillance of people and animals in emerging disease hotspot regions, EcoHealth Alliance, a nonprofit organization working at the intersection of animal, environmental, and human health on a global scale, has found evidence of viruses closely related to SARS in people in Yunnan Province, China. Published today in Virologica Sinica, this research confirms that coronaviruses capable of infecting humans continue to lurk in the wild. It also confirms the importance of continued study of these unknown viruses before they create outbreaks like the 2002-2003 SARS pandemic.EcoHealth Alliance scientists, in partnership with Wuhan Institute of Virology and Duke-NUS, found SARSr-CoVs in bat caves near Jinning in Yunnan Province. Human testing revealed antibodies against SARSr Co-V in six people living nearby, though none recalled any symptoms related to SARS infection.
for me the blame shouldn't be entirely on china
the US should partly be blamed coz they were funding it
*for those who don't believe the US government gave money to ecohealth alliance here's a US government website detailing how much money it gave to ecohealth alliance

Uk living with the Virus...
Why does the UK currently have 6-fold hospital admissions and a 3-fold higher death rate compared with Europe?
More reliance on Astra Zeneca vaccines offered as another possible contributing factor
Another potential explanation is that the UK vaccinated earlier than rest of Europe, and therefore has manifest more waning of protection, especially among older people

More waning from earlier vaxxing is a possible factor. The AY.4.2 variant is not the explanation.
The UK has done far better than the US for uncoupling cases from hospitalizations and deaths
