apparently, they want to ostracize from society even those who have given glory to our country & for what reason? dahil meron din kahinaan...

THE Pacquiao-Morales fight carried a lethal punch for two men who died separately as they watched the boxing match unfold, the other in a delayed telecast.

In Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, a 72-year-old retired policeman died of a heart attack after he defied doctor’s advice not to get overexcited and went on to watch the Pacquiao-Morales fight on Sunday.

In Toledo City, Cebu, a 47-year-old former boxer and avid fan of Pacquiao suffered a hypertensive attack as he watched the boxing match in a delayed telecast.

Leopoldo Olarte, the retired patrolman from Moises Padilla, has been suffering from chest pains and was warned by his doctor not to get too excited, according to his daughter, Joy Olarte.

George Bugna Sr., 47, of Sitio Dakit, Cabitoonan, Toledo City, was declared dead on arrival at the Toledo District Hospital, where he was brought after collapsing as he watched the delayed telecast of the fight.

Bugna, according to doctors, suffered a hypertensive attack.

His wife, Lydia, 46, said they were having fun watching the fight even if it was already a delayed telecast because no one had told them of the results of the fight.

In Moises Padilla, Leopoldo’s family said he was such a big fan of Pacquiao that he went over to a neighbor’s house to watch the fight on TV, without his family’s knowledge.

Joy, Leopoldo’s daughter, said her father didn’t inform the family that he would watch the fight probably because he knew he wouldn’t be allowed to.

Leopoldo’s wife, Leticia, 69, said she looked for Leopoldo and found him in front of the TV at their neighbor’s house. Leticia couldn’t keep Leopoldo from watching the fight, so she did what she thought was the next best thing—watch the fight with him.

After the fight, Leticia said Leopoldo was so happy over the victory of Pacquiao but complained that it ended too soon as Pacquiao won by technical knockout on the third round.

Leopoldo, according to Leticia, wished the fight went on to a fifth round.

It was at home, 30 minutes after watching the fight in their neighbor’s house, that Leopoldo suffered a heart attack.

Joy said her father was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Regional Hospital in this city and was kept alive by a respirator, but not for long.

He died 11 p.m. Sunday, hours after the fight.

Leticia said Leopoldo had been excited over the fight even before it was held. The excitement would show whenever the fight is plugged on TV, Leticia said.

Leopoldo, Leticia said, believed that Morales didn’t have a chance against Pacquiao.

She said while it was painful to lose her husband, she was sure he died happy that Pacquiao won.

In Toledo City, Lydia said her husband was just sitting on the floor while watching the fight.

Lydia said George was even more jubilant when Morales was knocked down twice on the third round until the ring announcer announced that Pacquiao won against Morales.

While they were in a jubilant mood, they noticed George falling to the floor.

“Our eldest son Geofrey even joked that his father imitated Morales who was knocked down,” Lydia recalled.

When she noticed that George was not moving, she approached her husband and tried to revive him.

Lydia said they brought George to the hospital but the doctors told them that George was already dead. Lydia said her husband had no heart problem, but he was hypertensive.
