Trying to revive the good old days of the NCAA eh? Anyways the NCAA should immediately impose stiff sanctions on those involved. As for the racist issue, sad to say but lumabas na naman ang double standard or should I say hypocrisy ng Pinoy. Ang lakas manlait ng ibang race pero pag may stories about racial slurs against Pinoys abroad, mas mabilis pa sa tren kung magreklamo.

Let the hostilities continue....

From ABS-CBNNews.com:

MANILA, Philippines*(1st UPDATE) - A riot broke out at a women's volleyball game involving members of the NCAA men's basketball champion the San Beda Red Lions on Friday.

The riot erupted during a match held in San Beda between the Perpetual Help Altas and the women's volleyball team of San Beda's rival San Sebastian.

The brawl at the San Beda Gym involving NCAA*basketball players as shown on ANC.
San Sebastian women's volleyball coach Roger Gorayeb claimed the San Beda side began shouting at him after his players allegedly insulted the Red Lions' Nigerian recruit Ola Ade-ogun.

Gorayeb then got into a shouting match with members of San Beda's men's basketball team and their coach Frankie Lim who were also inside the gym.

According to Jose Mari Lacson, NCAA Management Committee head, Ade-ogun approached him during the volleyball match between Perpetual Help and SSC-R.

*Ade-ogun claimed that members of the San Sebastian team called him a "monkey."

He then asked Ade-ogun to ignore the insults.

Lacson said a brawl began later following a heated argument between Gorayeb and Lim.

He said that the riot was immediately quelled but a San Sebastian player was hurt.

Lacson said an investigation is now underway. -- With reports from ANC and Maan Macapagal

I don't understand bakit naman aasarin ng SSC VT si Ola? Like C'mon guys, even on your home court, di mo naman pagtritripan ang isang player ng isang sport and player kadin ng isang sport.

it was a very physical game that culminated in this:

PCCL: San Sebastian slams San Beda as another scuffle broke out

MANILA, Philippines—San Sebastian was lucky it was leading by 15 points when it lost its entire bench players in the last two minutes of the game.

With just five players left, San Sebastian went on to defeat San Beda, 87-72, in an emotional encounter Monday in the round-robin final four of the 2011 Philippine Collegiate Champions League at the Arena in San Juan.

Even the Red Lions were left with only their playing unit on the court following a bench-clearing incident with 2:11 left in the game, which saw eight players from both squads get ejected.

It started with an elbow from Kyle Pascual that hit Calvin Abueva, who was positioning himself for a rebound behind Rome Dela Rosa, in the nape.

Abueva responded by slamming Dela Rosa in the head—and then the some of the players reacted almost automatically to the tension inside the court.

Pascual and Abueva were the first thrown out, along with San Sebastian’s Arvin Vitug, Michael Miranda, Joshua Grilli, Krushev Ferrer, San Beda’s Ryusel Kyoga and Mico Sorela, who were all punished for entering the court.

“It was highly emotional, not just for the players but also for the whole community,” said San Sebastian head coach Topex Robinson, as the incident came just days after the ugly brawl between the Red Lions and San Sebastian volleyball coach Roger Gorayeb at the San Beda gym.

“It was a good win for us. San Beda lost a lot of players but they still gave us a good fight and we respect that,” added Robinson.

The Stags, led by the big three of Ian Sangalang, Ronald Pascual and Abueva, had the upper hand in the entire game and led by as many as 19 points, 59-40, over the depleted Red Lions.

Sangalang churned in 20 points and notched 12 rebounds, Abueva added 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Pascual, who injured his left knee early in the payoff period, had 15 points and three rebounds.

The Red Lions, who missed the services of star guard Garvo Lanete and Jake Pascual, tried to stage a comeback early in the third quarter but ultimately lacked firepower.

Dela Rosa finished with 13 points even as Carmelo Lim added 10 points in a losing cause for San Beda.

San Sebastian faces Ateneo while San Beda clashes with University of Cebu Tuesday in the single round-robin semifinals.

The NCAA Policy Board, after hearing the case and recommendations from the league’s Management Committee, have issued a series of sanctions last Wednesday, February 22, at an undisclosed location that can possibly cripple the San Beda College Red Lions and demoralize the San Sebastian Golden Stags.
According to a reliable source close to the situation, the San Beda men’s seniors basketball division head coach Frankie Lim and San Sebastian seniors volleyball division head coach Roger Gorayeb have both been initially slapped with two years suspension by the NCAA Policy Board.
The sanctions were based on the aftermath of a verbal confrontation including some physical contact between the two coaches during an official NCAA Volleyball Game last December 2011 at the St. Placid’s Gym in San Beda College.
The source also revealed that multiple players from the Red Lions will also be penalized, highlighted by Fil-Am guard Julius Armon and Nigerian center Ola Adeogun wherein both will have to wait an additional playing year before making their NCAA debuts. Additionally, veterans Melo Lim, Kyle Pascual, Jake Pascual, JP Mendoza, Rome Dela Rosa, Baser Amer and Anjo Caram will be tagged with one-game suspension apiece.
According to NCAA Policy Board spokesperson, Dr. Ramon Cercado, the NCAA has not made an official statement because these sanctions are not yet final and are subject to appeal by both San Beda College and San Sebastian College-Recoletos. The Policy Board’s resolution on the matter have been scheduled on another date.
