Masyado magulo accident waiting to happen.

So dumadating ako buhay.

And malaki tulong sidemirror sa bike.

PANISSSS!!!!

I am just beginning to get into cycling again. Pero hindi bike to work... kundi bike to fit. I'm trying to manage my weight and my BP and hopefully biking can help me with my goal. The thought of the trucks and jeepneys and the kamote riders on the road with you sometimes dampen my enthusiasm though.

Just started researching about bikes din. And ang dami nga talagang kelangan i-consider. First is about choices. Andyan nga yung mga "grocery bikes" like yung mga Japanese surplus bikes - the design of which is very popular sa Netherlands. Then there's the MTB or mountain bikes. I started out looking for mountain bikes since eto yung nakikita ko sa FB Marketplace na around 3k to 6k lang may bike ka na. But then I learned about wheelsets, cranksets, groupsets, and details such as front and rear derailleurs, cassettes, dropbars, clipless pedals, and the differences of these items between MTB and road bikes. May mga pedal assisted e-bikes pa, mostly sa MTBs.

Ultimately, I've decided to go with a road bike. Medyo a bit hard pill to swallow lang na yung napili kong model was only around 12k pre-pandemic pero today nag-range between 17-22k na. Napakahirap pa humanap ng available stocks, which goes as well with other bikes also. It may be that the bike is available but not on your choice of colorway or frame size. The time na nakakita na sana ako ng available, nung nag-oorder na ako biglang wala na daw pala.

In my research, I had to do a lot of watching ng mga bike channels sa YouTube. All I can say, mas marami talagang T*E content sa motorcycling channels (had to watch a lot of them also when I bought my Kawasaki 250cc bike) in comparison. In fairness sa mga cycling channels, the quality of production may differ from poor to polished, pero at least sensible pa rin naman karamihan.

For context on my T*E comment:

Ito problema mga nagbbike sa pinas. Paluhtang-luhtang puro porma. Kita nyo nakaoutfit pa yan PERO WALANG SIDEMIRROR. BUGOK EH, NASA GITNA PA. Ganyan yun mga crowd na I have my rights so sa gitna ng kalsada.

    i don't know...
marami nag-bibisikletang tao sa workplace namin, naka non-flashy ordinary clothes.
they say they bike to work so that "they can get to work".
even my barber bikes to work. his claim to bongga is his black spandex cycling shorts.
are you making hasty generalizations again?

    but i agree.
many bikers take the innermost lane along taft avenue,
    heh heh.

I left Manila more than 15 years ago and back here for good this year...

Maybe because even 15 years later, biking to work is still not a common thing here yet.

    .
because it's not required by law?
    heh heh.

compared to the rest of the non-biking population, bikers here are still a rare breed.

but the bikers in the workplace make do with the comfort rooms.
buhos-tabo lang ay ok na sa kanila.
