Ok. Let us just discuss NLF and stop discussing why this why that.
Because this thread is about the NFL and not about soccer. As for discussing Pinoys playing it what's wrong with discussing it? If you don't want to discuss it then don't add to it. Besides I wasn't urging anyone to play anything I was stating a fact that there are Pinoys who are currently playing in the NFL and we Pinoys should be proud of that. If you want to discuss soccer then do your own thread about it instead of coming here and being grumpy about this topic what people are talking about.

I agree. But with basketball, you have the flexibility of 1-on-1, 2-on-2, 3-on-3, etc., plus the space can be as small as 1/4 of a real basketball court. And in depressed neighborhoods, there hardly is any vacant lot. American football, even soccer needs a bit of running space. Somehow Pinoys have taken to the hoops because of the fast pace, high scoring and seeming ability to use "abilidad" and "diskarte" on the fly. Pretty much like how they drive. LOL.

I wasn't able to watch the Pro Bowl but if the players from both Super Bowl teams were absent, I can only guess that they were playing it safe, making sure they wouldn't get accidentally injured before the big game. Maybe they were willing to give up on the bonuses just to make sure they'd be in top shape for the championship. So foregoing an exhibition match like the PB wasn't a big sacrifice.

redorange's info on the pinoy nfl players are interesting, especially on roman gabriel (who, according to wikipedia, was "considered by many to have been one of the best players at that position (QB) during the late 1960s and early 70s") and teddy bruschi (since he's the only player i really know from that list).

i don't think this idea is crazy at all. there are positions in footbal that's just right for the typical pinoy size. in basketball, you almost always have to be bigger than the ave pinoy to make a name for yourself.

on the probowl, nfl said they moved it a week before the sb because according to them, people forget about football, and ultimately probowl, after the sb. and the players from the sb teams were expected to miss the probowl but would still get their bonuses.

that's exactly why i would be upset at the league (or commissioner) for changing the schedule if i were playing on both super bowl and pro bowl games. guaranteed money for playing just one down is about $20k each player (on the losing team) and about $45k (on the winning team) plus whatever performance incentives that were stipulated in the player's contract. and there's a lot of these guys who make only $2Mil or less per year (that's not a lot compared to other leagues), so $20k or $40k is a lot to these guys considering the average nfl career is less than 10 years.
