The testimonials are beyond fantastic: significant weight loss, allergy relief, arthritis relief, improved bowel regularity, increased energy, advanced hydration of cells and skin, improved digestion, reduced cholesterol, and overall better health. Ionized alkaline water is full of anti-oxidants. This water provides better oxygenation directly to the blood stream and allows optimum cleansing and detoxification.

Detoxification: Flushes acidic waste products from the body. Gently cleanses at a deep cellular level.
Hydration: Three to five times as effective as regular water with bioavailable electrolites.
Absorption: Allows nutrients to be absorbed more efficiently.
Anti-oxidant: Electron charged water helps control free radical activity.
Improved Taste and Purity: Your body will crave more water. You and your family will enjoy drinking more water.
Increased Energy: Feel the difference usually within a few days.
Improved Digestion: As you digest and assimilate your food better, health improves, energy levels increase, weight sheds away and life becomes more enjoyable.

If it's any insight, alkaline water is what the Chinese use to prepare their "lo mien" noodles with (and its Japanese cousin, ramen). Treating the noodle dough with "kansui" imparts better qualities to the final noodle, I've just forgotten what exactly.

As for health benefits, probably none.

Alkaline water as a health drink is complete poppycock.

There's no proof that drinking it will help you... and... furthermore... what's the first thing "alkaline" water comes into contact with when it hits the stomach? Stomach acid.

Alkaline and acid cancel each other out. In other words, your body won't notice the difference. I suppose you could drink this stuff if you're suffering from hyperacidity (like alka-seltzer), but there's really no other reason to drink it.

You could always drink soap... ...there's a reason alkaline water tastes soapy... :hysterical:

Kansui (alkaline mineral water) imparts the characteristic color and firmness of lo mien/ramen noodles. If it's not available, eggs are a viable substitute.

Anyway more information debunking the blown-up benefits of alkaline water, this time coming from a chemist:

So is distilled water (common purification method in most homes) any better?

been drinking this water for about a month, ganito tubig sa office eh. hehehe. as for me, may effect siya since acidic ako. madalas mahapdi tiyan ko due to hyperacidity, ngayon matagal tagal ko ng hindi nararamdaman un. hehehe. uminom lang ako ng konting iced tea namumulupot na ko buong araw eh. ngayon bihira na.

and if your acidic may kakaibang lasa siya, kaya pala one time nung unimom ako ng kape may kakaibang lasa kahit ang dami ng asukal. bawal din kasi sa akin ang coffee since parang nattriger niya ata ung pagiging acidic.

Distilled is better than mineral. You should not drink too much mineral water.
