Orcollo wins 2nd Asiad gold for RP

MANILA, Philippines – Former World No. 1 Dennis “Robocop” Orcollo scored the country’s second gold medal in the ongoing 16th Asian Games (Asiad) in Guangzhou, China on Thursday.

Orcollo, a former fisherman from Surigao del Sur, defeated compatriot Warren Kiamco in an all-Filipino finals duel in the men’s 9-Ball singles at the Asian Games Town Gymnasium.
According to the games' official Website, the scores were 9-7 in favor of Orcollo.

The Robocop, who recently bagged the San Miguel Beer Oktoberfest 9-Ball title in Manila, had to dispose of Korean Jeong young Hwa first in the semifinals before forging an all-Pinoy finals showdown with Kiamco.
Orcollo’s gold finish followed that of Filipino bowler Engelberto “Biboy” Rivera, who scored the country’s first gold medal in the Asiad last Monday.
Rivera finished with 235.7 average points in the Men's Singles, and this was good enough for first place.

The Philippines is now ranked 11th in the Asiad with 2 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals.

The country is trying to improve from its 18th place finish in Doha, Qatar Asiad, where it won 4 gold, 6 silver and 9 bronze medals.
