56k was actually state-of-the-art, when you'll often only get V.34 (28.8k or 33.6k), at best, with the crappy analog lines we had.

I started with a 2400 modem, then 9600, then spent the longest time on 14.4k. It took us a while to get to 56k because of the then competing standards; K56flex and X2. The two later agreed to be inter-compatible and came up with the V.90 standard.

Towards the tail end of the dial-up era, I snagged a US Robotics Courier V.Everything... considered to be one of the more premium modems of the time. A year or two later, broadband hit critical mass and the rest was history.

I still have the USR. It's dead tech but I can't bring myself to get rid of it.

While decluttering an aunt's house, we came across a P100 dial up prepaid card that gave 20 something hours internet, still in its wrapper, unopened.

We all had a laugh remembering those days when your email took minutes to load, and Youtube buffered every few minutes or so at 360p resolution.

Ung bago kong kabit na globe plan 1799 200 Mbps with WiFi 6 modem bumagal the past few days to 70 Mbps. Ang nakapagtataka kanina sa phone nung technician lampas 200. When 2 of my phones and 1 laptop was getting 70 lang din. Nung nilagay sa LAN ang laptop nag 200, so we thought na kailangan mag disconnect then reconnect sa WIFI. It worked, Less than 1 hour now since umalis ung tech, balik 70 ako [emoji24]. Anyone experienced this? Baka may nakaka alam ng problem.

Ung bago kong kabit na globe plan 1799 200 Mbps with WiFi 6 modem bumagal the past few days to 70 Mbps. Ang nakapagtataka kanina sa phone nung technician lampas 200. When 2 of my phones and 1 laptop was getting 70 lang din. Nung nilagay sa LAN ang laptop nag 200, so we thought na kailangan mag disconnect then reconnect sa WIFI. It worked, Less than 1 hour now since umalis ung tech, balik 70 ako [emoji24]. Anyone experienced this? Baka may nakaka alam ng problem.

Ginawa ko sa globe ko eh bumili ako nung smart power socket, dun naka saksak yung router, then MWF morning nagpa power off and on, para mag restart yung router. Problematic din globe ko na usually nawawalan ng connection or bumabagal.

Ung last technician, he switched the band from automatic to another one which is pretty much the same hack being taught in YouTube for prepaid devices.

If band switching worked, good chance there's a lot of other wifi access points (or radio noise) in your area. The technician found a cleaner channel.

Doesn't last long because if every other access point was on auto, then something would eventually migrate to the "clean" channel you were on.

Can use a wifi analyzer app to visualize the wifi networks nearby and the channels they are using. Could help in moving your own router to a relatively cleaner frequency, but as always ymmv.



Also wifi speed is half-duplex, and divided across all devices on your network. "AC1300Mbps" sounds fast in theory, but when you have 10 devices that's really just 130Mbps each na lang, and divided between up and down so it could be 100/30, or 65/65.

Since wifi hops across each of your devices in turn, having one slow device on the network can considerably slow it down for everything else.

It's completely unlike ethernet which is full-duplex meaning same speed up and down, and guarantees the same link speed for every device.

That sounds like there's too mani WiFi Sa lugar nyo at nagkaka sapawan sa band. You might need a WiFi analyzer app from the play store.

There's this TP-Link CCTV I bought which doesn't work with my home network but works with the seller's network at their office, so my request for return has been rejected and I'm left with a 13k useless item. I have consulted the TP-Link community and they sent me an app to download which will send data to them. Is this safe? I'm afraid they'll be able to hack my network with this data. Posted the email here. Any help, advice from other members will be much appreciated. Thanks

I agree with you with regards to the RF bandwidth limitations and physics. However, technologies have since improved. Newer transmission modes and the use of MU-MIMO/MIMO technologies, while not perfect, helps compensate for the bandwidth inefficiencies and challenges of RF.

I have UniFi APs all around and I keep auto-channel, auto-power, and auto-optimize turned off. I manually pick and choose which channel each AP is on in relation to where the neighbors' and my other APs are. We live in a compound so interference from other WiFi is pretty low. I use wired gigabit where available and use WiFi mostly for mobile devices, STBs, and IoTs.

When I bought globe prepaid 3 years ago it was only giving me 1-4 Gbps, with YouTube hack, I was able to bring it only to 12. Yun lang hindi pa uso 5G nuon

Are your mobile phones iOS or Android? ... wired LAN cable will always give higher speed ... type of wifi? ... are you using mesh router or just the one given by provider? ...
