What laptop to buy? not more than 30k

I was able to sell my Dell mini 12, and I want to buy a regular laptop. What brand should I buy? I want at least dual core or core 2 duo, with at least 2 gig RAM. I'm not after playing games...But I want to have a faster rig than the mini...please help..TIA

If you intend to keep the laptop plugged in most of the time, go for one with a fast hard drive.
