Formation flying is easier with a nice and slow prop job like the OV-10 Bronco.

I've been playing PS3 and xbox360 lately but I was heavily in to PC games.
MASS EFFECT is out on PC guys.... It's an awesome game from the same guys who made Knights of the Old Republic.

Jun, one of my office pals is giving me a good deal on a XFX 8600GT 512mb DDR3. I plan on installing it on my son's old PC (HP Media Center P4-HT 3.2Ghz, 3Gb DDR, ATI X300 SE 128mb). Do you think it will improve the gaming experience on this clunky old rig?
My son plays COD4 and World in Conflict with low graphics settings. It pales in comparison with the ones I see elsewhere. I don't want to spend a whole lot on a new computer system since we have one for each of us already.
What do you think?

Not sure about World In Conflict. But, an 8600 GT should improve CoD 4.
This guy was running CoD 4 at 1024x768, no shadows, but other settings are maxed out. Gameplay seems smooth.
His pc specs:
8600GT - Basic clock settings
2GB of 667MHz RAM
Vista Basic
300W PSU
AMD x2 4000+

I don't see anything clunky about your pc. It's an HP MPC. Besides having a singlecore cpu, it's still a fine pc. It's HT. So, it still is more efficient than a typical singlecore cpu. The X300 is what holds it back.
512mb XFX 8600GT.............. That's the same exact card my friend gave me.

I downloaded the CoD 4 demo (Al Asad) and fired it up with FRAPS running in the background. I ran at a screen res of 1024x768. With the single-player mode, there seemed to be little difference between different combinations of AA off/on or shadows on/off with all other details set to high. I got around 30-40 fps. That may not seem high. But, there's no perceptable lag and is playable enough for me.
The 30-40 fps was similar to Battlefield 2 using my X800XL. Without a framerate counter, the gameplay looked/felt fluid and consistent throughout. With CoD 4, I imagine my X800XL would've had a harder time than the 8600 GT.

Yup. I definitely prefer prop jobs for formation flying.

Dekaron(2moons) maganda din. kakalabas pa lang ngayon, closed-beta testing palang dito sa pinas eh.
Buhay na buhay ang BGC this evening. Bukas halos lahat ng restaurants. Sabi pa nung isang cashier...
