During the past few weeks of ECQ, I rarely been wearing any watch except for my G-shock which I wear on grocery runs.

It may only be a Patek’s slogan, but it is no less true, that you never really own these precious time pieces. You merely look after them for the next generation.

Unlike cars, unless it’s LaFerrari or the like, these watches mostly appreciate in value through time.

And you don’t usually do periodic expensive maintenance for them.

So, garage queen or not, it doesn’t matter.

the former 5-year rolex pms is now every 10 years, although some rolex veteran users don't bother with it, until the watch actually malfunctions. which can be... near-forever...
each pms event can buy you a middle-class seiko.
the rolex guy says, rolex is designed to be used, not closeted. "it is tougher than you think."

a watch-whose-name-you-cannot-pronounce, is for those to whom money is literally no object. lumilipad sa switzerland for pms/repair. and the bill is a significant percentage of the original purchase price.

"kuya, anong gagawin natin sa patek ni papah?"
"benta na natin. susuutin ba natin 'yan sa araneta?"
    heh heh.

when dad died many years ago, he had this basic gold omega...
we were young, then, and were not into "reloj ng mga matatanda".
many years later, kuya decided to have it serviced and wear it.
i haven't seen him wearing it this last couple of years, when the alma mater's commemorative seiko got welded to his wrist...

Day is advanced by 1 but date, month, and year are synced

Brought it to Lucern SC at 6750, at least 30k petot to service it.

Erpat did not bother, he's not that OC naman daw. Bahala na daw yun sasalo kasi libre naman daw pagbukas sa IWC pagpalit nun year sa 2100 🤣 lasing

Only IWC techs can synced it yata. Too complicated for mere mortals. Lucern have to ship it to Singapore, none of their techs can service it.

For the half million or more others pay for an IWC with complication, that 30k is not even 10%. What more for a more complicated ALS or AP?

and all it will do, is tell the time, and even more in-accurately than timex or casio.

    sabi nga ng aficionado,
"at that price, telling the time is NOT the raison de etre."

AP ROO chrono service is minimum 50k every 5 years or pag may nasira additional for parts and it'll take a minimum of 4 weeks for general service. Pag may parts na kelangan, add another 4 weeks. 🤣

Tama si doc; bihira may magpa service ng Rolex.

Unless may nasira (tumigil), ibebenta ko, or tinopak lang ako to suddenly follow the prescribed service intervals chaka ko lang din papa service yung akin. 🤣
