    I asked him what model it is (since I'm totally clueless)

    he took it off and handed it to me haha

    No kidding. It does look old. Looks like a Datejust. One thing about Rolex is they hardly ever change the design. That's why older models don't look that far apart from modern ones. Most changes are incremental. That's how they became "timeless" I suppose.

    The bracelet has improved quite a bit vs the old ones though. Specially the clasp.
