January 31st, 2010 07:41 AM #621you can buy the most expensive watch but you can't buy time. what does it matter as long as it tells the right time everytime. a watch does not make a man. you can make a monkey wear the most expensive rolex, he would still be a monkey
Luxury items are obviously not for everyone but they are created to those who wants to feel special. You are right to say that a watch is still a watch that tells the same time. So as belts who keeps your pants up, a shirt to cover your body and shoes to protect your feet.
A monkey who wears a Rolex watch, La Coste shirt, Ferragamo shoes and drives a Bentley is still a monkey but a really classy monkey who is on top of his tribe.

January 31st, 2010 09:38 AM #622not to profile people nor to generalize, nor to judge, but the most vain people are the gay, not so much on the lesbians, they don't really care. followed by vain women. if a person wears simple taste on clothes or jewelry or shoes, or belts, it is because of his choice. it does not necessarily mean that a person drives a car that it is his car. it might be borrowed. just like the girls at the club, most fancy dresses, jewelry, accessory they have are not theirs. it can be a facade of something they are trying to cover up. i have seen a lady who wears signature clothes, jewelry, etc., but behaves like somebody from the mountains not knowing the proper etiquette how to properly use a steak knife, how to drink soup in other words, a date you will never take to dinner with again in public. kung baga, hindi bagay

As a young kid I dreamt of having a rolex, kasi classic ang design.
Once you wear one you will realize that its also a solid, reliable, dependable, sturdy and precise piece of machine.
Those who dreamt, sweat, worked hard, strived, achieved and conquered is what rolex means. Exception to this are those who borrows from daddy, lolo, uncle or kuya ito sa tingin ko ang mga monkey. May kayabangan na akala mo pinaghirapan.

I better be careful then as Filipinos, as you said, will pull me down for owning a Rolex.

its like "why buy a BMW when you can get a Cherry where it can also go to point a to point b"? simple as that. every product has its own market.
